Escaping The Body Triangle

There is nothing worse than having someone on your back with the rear body triangle locked in.

I have seen many MMA fighters and grapplers become frantic in their attempts to break this grip. Most grapplers are familiar with the step over foot lock counter - but in this video, Professor Robert Biernaki of Island Top team provides us with a heel hook counter. Rules:
- Gi or no Gi, the choice is yours!
- If you choose to wear a Gi, it can be used against you. You cannot grab shorts or rash guards.

Techniques:
- Beginner Division - (less than 1 year of training)

   No heel hooks, knee bars, wrist locks, neck cranks or spine/cervical locks.

   No slam takedowns or slams from the guard.

- Intermediate Division - (1 to 3 years of training)

   No heel hooks, neck cranks or spine/cervical locks.

   No slam takedowns or slams from the guard.

- Advanced Division - (more than 3 years of training)

   No slam takedowns or slams from the guard.

- Absolute Division - (open to all Intermediate and Advanced division competitors) 

   No slam takedowns or slams from the guard.

Weight Classes: (Divisions may be combined)

Men:
140 lbs and below
140.1 lbs - 155 lbs
155.1 lbs - 170 lbs
170.1 lbs - 185 lbs
185.1 lbs - 205 lbs
205.1 and above 

Women:
140 lbs and below
141.1 lbs to 160 lbs
160.1 lbs and above

Divisions: (men and women, ages 15 and up)
- Beginner - 5 min matches

   takedowns = 2pts

   Sweeps/Reversals = 2pts

   Knee on Belly, Guard Pass, Side Control and North South = 2pts

   Catches (any submission attempt that opponent has to seriously defend) = 3pts

   Mount and Back Mount = 4pts

   Submission = Win

- Intermediate - 7 min matches 

   Submission Only!

   If there is no submission at the end of 7 min, the referee will award the match based on catches and aggressiveness.

- Advanced - 10 min matches 

   Submission Only!

   If there is no submission at the end of 10 min, the referee will award the match based on catches and aggressiveness.

- Absolute - 10 min matches 

   Submission Only!

   If there is no submission at the end of 10 min, the referee will award the match based on catches and aggressiveness.

Awards:
- Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced Division -

1st Place - Gold Medal 

2nd Place - Silver Medal

3rd Place - Bronze Medal

- Absolute Division -

  Championship Belt

Brackets will be ready and posted when competitors arrive at the event.

 

   Competitors not making the weight they sign up for will be dissqalified !
- The rules meeting - will begin promptly at 9:00 am 

   The first match will begin directly following the rules meeting.

- Spectators $ 5.00
