Keith Owen Favourite Moves Vol 3 - DVD review

Pedro Sauer black belt and Idaho resident Keith Owen returns to the instructional arena to deliver the third instalment of his highly popular Favorite Moves collection. Volume three takes a change from the last two volumes which covered gi techniques and offers nineteen chapters of Keith favourite no gi moves.
In line with the last two volumes, in a number of chapters, Keith shows a range of options from one position and in this DVD, Keith demonstrates triangle escapes, guard passes, mount and knee ride options and omoplata escapes, showcasing the old school moves firstly and then adding a few of his own extra moves in for good measure.
Other techniques on the DVD include –
• Brabo defence
• Peruvian Neck Tie and counter
• Shin guard
• Lockdown escape
• Twister escape
• Shockwave
In addition to these techniques are moves from all positions and can easily be added into your ground game, whatever your level. The DVD is well produced with various camera angles and Keith goes to great lengths in demonstrating each move and explaining each move in great detail so you have a full understanding of each technique.
The DVD is essential viewing for all levels of no gi player and all moves are shown at the start of each chapter so you can see the move before Keith starts the tutorial, which helps keep the technique fresh in your memory. If you struggle to keep these techniques in your head, then the DVD can easily be taken direct into your gym/academy/garage by means of laptop or DVD player and lo and behold you have a virtual black belt instructor at your disposal, where you can go over the technique again and again until you have it stored and ready to unleash in your next training session.
One of my favourite moves on the DVD is a rather nifty and sneaky kimura attack, which really gets your opponent by surprise, a real eye opener and a move that has been getting some drilling in class.
Echoing the comments made by Roy Dean on the back of the DVD, some of the moves were new to me and even the ones I had seen, Keith was able to show new details and improvements on these moves, so a DVD well worth adding to your collection.
The DVD is available from www.bjjmoves.com and after three action packed DVD’s from Keith, will a fourth instalment be on the horizon in the near future??
