Guitar Hero Guard Pass

This is a great guard pass weather you are rolling gi or no-gi.

Thanks to youtube User GGBJJ for the video upload He also talks about this technique in the video description:

"Here is one of my favorite Closed Guard Passes. It is usable in both Gi and no Gi.

The power for this pass comes from the turning of the knee onto the rib cage. Make sure that when you step with the foot closest to the hip that it is not to close or to far away. I wish that I could accurately describe in words the spacing but it is something that is felt through many repetitions.

Make sure that when you stand you keep your opponents torso bent. If they extend their abdominal muscles and push you away it will make it almost impossible to use the Guitar Hero Pass.

Through personal experience I have found that at the high levels there is a mix of extending the hips or pulling with the hips/legs (about 50/50) depending on what they are trying to do. If they are pulling this is an excellent option, if they are pushing then it is best to switch to another option (I prefer to stand straight up, double pant grip and push a knee up in the middle).

Once the legs have broken open and you are driving your knee into the ribs then it is time to clear that leg. Make sure that you dont try and reach back to clear the leg. You will want to make the Guitar Hero motion and act like you are strumming your air guitar. This will result in a trampoline type effect with their leg springing away from you. If you feel the need to catch that leg you can or you can just ride the leg down (reference the video) and end in side control."

Enjoy the technique.
