Dont Let Hector Lombard Get You In An Ankle Lock
I often get newer students ask me what happens if they dont tap to a leg lock, especially the straight ankle lock. I tell them that your foot or shin can snap or that many of the ligaments and tendons in the foot can get stretched out or pop. My explanation is normally enough to convince those stubborn tappers to submit a little faster to this lock.
Well now, thanks to Olympic Judoka and Bellator fighting championship middle weight champ Hector Lombard - I now have a video that I can show them.
In an interesting side note, Hector has won two MMA matches by leg locks and once accidentally knocked out an opponent with a head butt.
It looks like competing with Hector may just be a bad idea with any ruleset. Watch what happens as Hector hips into his submission hold at a grappling tournament at the end of this video.

Hector Lombard scares me... huge Olympic Judoka that can also knock your head off...
Not sure if that sound scares or excites me. It's a risk we take in these competitions, but that's what tapping is for. I can't speak as someone who uses leg submissions often, but still...whew.
