Stack pass to Mount and Back Again

Here is a fun drill from your friends at Total Control.
I almost put this in the technique section because I didn't see a stack pass, but its fun to make a drill out of it because you can smoothly go back and forth, from pass to mount to pass again. Use this to get the motions and movements down so you can flow tight and smooth.
The pass is actually a high % pass for me, I hope you enjoy the drill!

  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Here we see Derick is in Freds open guard.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Note Dericks knee is up preventing Fred from closing his guard.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Derick brings both his hands under Freds legs, just below the knee.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Note this must be done fast and both hands must "swim" under the legs at the same time to avoid being placed in submission danger, bringing your hands under one at a time, as you can see, leads to Big danger.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Derick correctly swims both arms in and clasps his hands together in a tight grip. Also note Derick has scooped Fred in tight to make it more difficult for Fred to move.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • From here Derick crunches Fred into himself, and reaches across to Freds shoulder to apply an uncomfortable choke to assist the pass. Important to note in this Picture Dericks Right knee is up to keep Fred Crunched in.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Derick passes the legs and sets himself up for a solid side control.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Derick tightens up for a solid side control, BUT WAIT, THERE IS MORE!
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Derick switches his hips, still keeping tight.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Derick then Blocks Freds knees and comes across Freds stomach low and tight.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Derick has Mounted poor Fred, and is about to rain down some punches.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Fred Quickly and Powerfully bucks his hips up.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • To avoid being thrown off Derick must post his Arm out, giving Fred the opportunity to escape, Here we see Fred has trapped Dericks arm and Leg on the same side.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Keeping Dericks arm and leg still trapped, Fred again bucks his hips.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • As Fred Bucks up he arches over his shoulder at a 45 degree angle while using his non trapping arm to assist the roll.
A fun "assist" is a thumb in the tender part of the under arm.
  • stack pass to mount escape
  • Fred Continues over untill he is in Dericks open Guard.
Now Fred is primed to move to stack pass and repeat the whole drill.
