Submission Counter Flow Drill

Here's a great drill for developing "Counter to the Counter" techniques. The emphasis on this drill is on the positions and set-ups, not the submissions

  • Step 1
  • Cole has side control on Nate
  • Step 2
  • Nate pushes on Cole and begins to shrimp away to make space
  • Step 3
  • Nate captures the guard position. (Nate places his arms on Cole's chest)
  • Step 4
  • Nate sets up for the armbar
  • Step 5
  • Nate throws his leg over Cole's head for the armbar
  • Step 6
  • As Nate arches to finish the armbar, Cole pulls his arm out - Nate is careful to leave his hips up
  • Step 7
  • Without dropping his hips, Nate throws his left leg over Cole's head in an attempt to set up the triangle submission
  • Step 8
  • Cole wraps his arm around Nate's leg in an attempt to defend the triangle choke
  • Step 9
  • Nate wraps his right leg over Cole's left shoulder in an attempt to set up the Omoplata
  • Step 10
  • Nate continues to go for the omoplata
  • Step 11
  • Cole rolls forward, out of the omoplata
  • Step 12
  • Nate sits up off Cole's roll
  • Step 13
  • Nate continues to sit up and sits on his right hip as he straightens his right leg to pass Cole's left arm
  • Step 14
  • Nate claims side control...Now it's Cole's turn to complete the same techniques

This IS the best technique sites on the web. Love the flows Chaz.

I like it in that it trains the situations I Get in alot.

"Tap snap or nap." -The submission fighters moddo and threat, but most of all its our way of life.

Do I wanna fight?
Hell yeah I wanna fight!

Beautiful!

Herbert Clark

everything is good except the arm slip from the arm bar, thats not always that easy. good drill though.

"Kill something everyday, no matter how small or insignificant, if for no other reason, but to maintain proficiency."

simple and sweet!!!

ten stars! this is the bestest damned lock flow drill ever, ever!

When walking in open territory, bother no one.
If someone bothers you, ask him to stop.
If he does not stop, destroy him.

I agree simple and sweet.

Amazing flow! The only problem I ran into was pulling the arm out of the arm bar, that can be tricky. This was definitly the best lock flow drill I've ever seen.

Personally my 3 favorite submissions rolled into one sweet little flow. Nice work

If he says so, then it must be the case. He probably knows better. Let him try to take advantage of it, and And I will do my thing
