Suicides

These are called suicides. This is a pretty common drill but I haven't seen it posted on here yet. This is a good endurance/running drill. Basically you set up 2 points along a mat in a straight line. Each one spaced evenly apart. You sprint to the first one then sprint back. Then you sprint to the second one and sprint back. Then you sprint to the end of the mat or w/e you are running on and sprint to the beginning and thats one suicide. To make it more challenging you can add more points and space them farther apart. You can also do the opposite: shorten the distances and take out points. When I run classes I usually specify a specific thing to do at each point. For example when you get to point 1 do 10 push-up, point 2 do 10 sit ups, and when you get to the end do 20 punches. You can always mix it up for more challenging and interesting workouts.

  • Part one
  • Make a starting point where you will start running from and place 2 objects evenly spaced from each other in a straight line. And have an end point(this can just be the end of the mat) as shown in the diagram I made. You will have 4 points in total which includes the start, point 1, point 2, and the end(Sorry about the quality I don't have any pix of the drill to put up I tried to make something quick in photoshop).
  • Part 2
  • Now that it is set up you can start the drill. Run from the starting point to point one. Now run back to the starting point. Now run from the starting point to point 2. Now run back to the starting point. Finally run to the ending point and back to the starting point. That's one suicide. To make it harder you can always add more points or spread the points farther apart. You can also take out points and make them close together to make it easier.

hate this drill, but only because I am not fit, which is a reason to do it I suppose. Thank you for the effort and I don't think pictures of someone doing the drill could have provided more information or better quality

Being attacked is like being asked a question- if you answer right you won't get asked anymore questions.

We did these for soccer (and somehow I think they would work better outside on a track or something instead of on the mat).

I hate hate hate these, so painful.

yeah believe it or not that little picture took me like over 30 mins because adobe photoshop and me dont get along very well.. after you do like 10 or so you start to feel it pretty good

天下無難事,只怕有心人

... but great times!!!

24 wins! Dominic Cruz better watch out!

BE CAREFUL!!!!
This drill was never intended to be performed on a surface like a wrestling mat. Way to many ankle and knee injuries.

I will beat my body and make it my slave.

yea my old b-ball coach used to tell use no had ever drown in swet lol

agree with Ernest I've rolled my ankle's on more then one case trying to do this drill on the matt

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying "I will try again tomorrow"

yeah we dont do these on the wrestling mats we just grapple on those

-Jimmy

We called em shuttle runs in PE. I call them pain, and lots of it.

+1 to eagles for posting this drill, I'm surprised it wasn't on here already.
-1 to Photoshop for being a counter-intuitive pain in the butt. Sometimes I give up and just use MS Paint =P

"I don't care if it's God's own Anti-Son-of-a-B*tch machine or a giant hula hoop, we are not going to let them have it. What we will let them have is a belly full of lead, and a pool of their own blood to drown in!" - Sergeant Johnson

love em

My gym class always called it "the shuttle run".
