Fedor Contract Issues Resolved, UFC Bout Imminent

Over the last five years, rumors and hopes of Fedor joining the ranks of the UFC have been built up only to be dashed upon the rocks time and time again, but Zuffa's purchase of Strikeforce has finally made that dream a reality. Sherdog is reporting that Fedor is now a part of the UFC and is awaiting an opponent.

"We're very excited to have Fedor in the UFC," Dana White said in his recent video blog. "I know that I've been very critical of Fedor in the past, but now that he's in the f***ing UFC he has a chance to prove me wrong."

The details of Fedor's contract are unknown. The length and stipulations of the contract were not released, but it's safe to assume that the clause that halted negotiations with Fedor in the past, which demanded co-promoted events with M-1 Global, is absent. This change of heart on the part of Fedor's management was likely brought on by Fedor's recent lesses, and the decision makes sense. Securing victories in the UFC is the quickest and surest path to Fedor reclaiming his throne.

Dana White did not name an opponent for Fedor but said that, "He has to work his f***ing way to the top, just like everyone else," which suggests that Fedor will have to accumulate a few wins before fighting for the title. Whatever the circumstances may be, finally having Fedor in the UFC is good for the sport. We will finally get to see Fedor fighting the best in the world, and the match ups that we have been dreaming about can finally become a reality.
