Are any of y'all slingers?

I became interested in the sling a few years ago. Obviously its pretty cool; it fires egg-size rocks fast and far. I'm also into the history and simplicity of the weapon. It is arguably man's first projectile weapon, biblical, and beyond. I love that its action is an extension of human movement. It is difficult to become accurate, but straightforward to get started.

While researching the sling I made a cool discovery; I found many photos of old greek coins featuring a slinger on one face, and grapplers on the opposite side!

How cool! The sling is a grapplers weapon! Makes sense to me too, instant transitions to close range, and a garrote cord for the finish.

Using hacky-sacks and rubber balls I am creating a field-sport with my friends based on slinging and grappling.
