Beginner tips!
I read this article right before I started at Charlie's Combat Club. Following these guidlines has really made my experience there the best. I'm learning more, and having a better time. Plus, it's kinda humbling to have someone half your size tap you out in 10 seconds. Makes for a good character builder.
Definitely everything said was exactly how it should be, No one wants to wrestle around with someone with B.O. either.... It makes it unbearable.
heh

this should be part of every new students info packet !

dang, i just read some more of it and i saw the part about "Leave Your Ego At The Door". that's kind of hard with my friends and i, hahaha. but at least we're just joking though. you should hear some of the smack we say, like "how are you going to tap out if i knock you out first?" hahaha. man, we're like little kids, good times.
who says that, nader?
that was an excellent article, and i believe that the head choke is the first thing that they teach in the school, and i gotta say yes sometimes its hard cause you keep tapping but i know ill get better in time
thanks chaxx some of this is good imma tell some of this to my students on thursday since there all new and ive basically told them this before but this put it a little better it might help them a lil more when they start to do more with grappling and rollin and stuff thanks!!

I totally agree with all of it. Good post coach!
Dang good read!
A must read for all, new and old!
nice one chaz!
We had this one guy on beginners course who brought his ego and headlocks with him... Well, I actually had to give the guy a little lesson once or twice for the safety of others
Toobad for him, that one of these "lessons" was when we were training G 'n' P  That prick was going full on against guys half of his size and it was supposed to be REALLY light contact, just to get the idea...
So , I Decided to pair up with the guy and just told him, that he's the one setting up the pace and I take what he gives and return the favour...
When he started in my guard... tried to smash me through the floor! Swept him. Gave him few punches. Passed the guard. Strikes from sidemount. Got the mount and slapped that bitch few times.
When the round ended I just got up and asked him: " Isn't it fun to train technique while the other guy tries to knock you out?"
And all this with a smile :D

Awesome article Chaz, so many of those hit on subjects I fell victim to when I started training. I have been out of it for about a year and a half now and planning on getting back at it, and I promise I won't be the same after reading.
