Just got done watching Inside MMA, they announced that for the 1st time since 2007 Big John will be reffing in the UFC.

Hope that is true!

This is interesting considering what his stance has been on the UFC's management. It's good for the fighters if it does happen.

The UFC has nothing to do with whether or not Big John refs their shows. The athletic commission appoints referees. We haven't seen much of Big John because when Big John retired from reffing to do press stuff, he had to stop reffing and said some things about the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The NSAC then neglected to rehire him when he returned to reffing. Since many of the UFC shows are in Vegas... see?

be great to see him back in the UFC. "are you ready?" "are you ready?' "Lets get it on!'

Never argue with an idiot, cause he'll bring you down to his level and beat you with experience

Ditto what Marshal said.. John had also reffed in other places, but for a while was kinda of on a self imposed hiatus from dealing with the Nevada commission.. he'd still reffed some California shows.

Big John himself stated he no longer wished to ref for the UFC after the Royce Gracie Matt Hughes fight though- all this stuff about the commision not wanting him around may be true, but Big John doesn't like Dana.

i thought Big John just didn't apply to ref in Nevada.

Big J applied to ref in Nevada when he finishes his media contracts (hosting shows and things like that, which would be a conflict of interest for a referee), but the NSAC declined to license him again for some time.
