Do what any responsible, self respecting adult would do...pimp slap him in front of all his friends. Seriously, you'll run into people like this everywhere. Just ignore him.

krazykyle31, I've been though four decades of this crap.

In the 70's everyone told me "Hey, my uncle trains with Bruce Lee"

In the 80's everyone told me "Hey, my brother is ninja he trained in Japan"

In the 90's everyone told me "Hey, my best friend is a black belt in XYZ"

And now everyone is telling me "Hey, I am a UFC fighter"

I think they said it best in the movie Madagascar "Just smile and wave, just smile and wave"

I'm always a fan of putting the guy in his place then offering to help him learn.

Sport Jiu Jitsu does not include strikes, but Gracie Jiu Jitsu includes striking in their grappling curriculum.

I know a kid just like that. I grappled him a few times and subbed him every time, in less than 10 secs the first time. If you go to my profile, there's a vid of me getting him in a triangle and there's a few others on youtube lol. I boxed him a few times too, but I was just a miserable striker back then so i didn't really punish him. I didn't hurt him while grappling, and I made him gain some respect for the sport. You could do the same thing.

You will run into people like that everywhere. just ignore them. and my opinion on why he thinks he'll "kill you" is that hes insecure about something and the only way for him to feel good is to try to make himself seem so badass.

There are those who depend on luck; and those who rely on skill. The skilled have achieved the spirit of knowledge. For luck is a fickle mistress, but skill; skill is the fighter's devoted lover.

Gracies include strikes, but not to be used in competition. Saying that is just as misleading as when a TMA says that they also do ground fighting because they have a couple wrist locks in their "curriculum."

And for the record...the striking involved/taught in the Gracie system is uuuuuhhhhhh.....pretty bad. Really bad. It's only in there so they can say "we do striking, too, of course."

judo is made up of nage-waza, newaza, and atemi-waza--throwing, grappling, and striking.

the atemi-waza are included in the later advanced forms, though they are illegal in competition.

Everyone where I live (that are uneducated) categorizes MMA fighters as UFC fighters.
I dont live in my original hometown, so no one knows who I am. Im known as "that fighter guy", the UFC fighter LOL", or the "tattooed guy who runs through town" LMAO!
People are always like "hey aint you that UFC guy?" Im like nope I dont even get paid yet, but I wish I was LOL.

I didn't come into the picture until the 80's but I remember all the ninja's stories about beating up people that trained with Bruce Lee

Nah, don't know any guys like that, but my group of friends seems to think I go to a gay orgy everyday. They don't call me gay anymore because of 2 things: one chick asked me if I was gay and I replied "yes, only when you're around", and another friend told me "dude, it hurts when you hump my arm like that". I'd just smile and wave, but if you really wanna show him up, pretend you don't know anything about MMA and ask him to show you something. Then counter and tap him out like the little bitch he is.

Ask any Gracie and they will be the first to tell you that in GJJ striking is only a means of distraction or to facilitate what you really want...to submit the opponent, preferably by choke.
So yes you can say it is bad or even inneffective - but it is made clear that it is not the primary line of action.
For example, in a streetfight, if I achieve the mount, why not throw an elbow down? Maybe I'll smash their face and knock them out, maybe not...I don't care because they either threw up their arms in defense or rolled onto their stomach...now they are in trouble.
I'll I'm saying is just because someone said Gracies show strikes doesn't mean they claim to be great strikers. (at least on the level of the art itself)

As for krazykyle most people here have it right, give this kid an opportunity to show you a little something if he wants, then run it from there. If he wants to learn more - great - show him. If not oh well. But din't let him bother you...sometimes the more you know the more people want to mess with you.

It could be a good or bad thing to show this kid whats up. On one hand you may gain a little respect, if you have the skills to back it up. Or all the assholes around you will start lining up and trying to fight you. Either way, good luck sir.

That is what we call a "douchebag" which is a better who claims to be better, tougher, cooler, smarter etc than they really are.

Therefore they need to be called out and put in the rightful place. Preferrably in front of their friends.

I always throw down the "Gracie Challenge". i refuse to talk about it. prove it. A Kung fu dork told me once that Kung Fu was too dangerous for the UFC. I convinced him to spar me after i agreed that he would go easy on me  10 second knockout. Muay thai kick to the head. Apparently they dont train for those in Kung Fu.

My favorite story was a Professional boxer friend of mine said "im like chuck lidell, you wont be able to take me to the ground. I'll hit you ten times". (he had never wrestled a day in his life). i guess he thinks Lidell is just naturally a wrestler. well, my girlfriend body slammed him in the sand (we were at the beach). i said "good job Chuck.....she must be Rampage then."

Another story. i was at champs and they had the Ouano UFC gloves in a clearance bin. so im looking at them and this skinny 16 year old who works there comes up and says "those are what the UfC fighters use, im savin up to buy them. are you a fighter?". Instead of explaining that i have fought but prefer grappling competitions, i reply "kind of". He say "yeah me too". Knowing that theres only one place to train in town and i know everybody that trains, and hes not one of us, i say "O'really where do you train for such a thing?" he says "I used to train...im an orange belt".

I would go with this one, just be careful what you go for. If you break their arm you will be in trouble.

First reading this "Story" I started to smell some Shenanigans....

But I see that your 15, so I can see where two kids would be watching too much Spike TV and want to copy it.

All the funny things that have been suggested already aside... my advice is that you two should be concentrating on your grades and take care of what is essentially your job.
If you two boys wanna do some MMA, then you need to take it to a gym and be responsible with it. Tards fighting in their backyards or worse...at school! Is something that no adult that loves the art should support.
I hate to sound like old man "pops" Jhamilton, but you two....Stop Screwing around in School!!!
Pay attention, get good grades, and go to college so you won't be another guy messing up my drive thru order.
