I was at Xtreme Couture working with her husband (Neil Melanson) and got to meet Erin. She is definitely an Amazon woman. There is no denying that, but I think she's around 175-180 right now, and she is working her way down.
It's a huge cut for her, though. Erin dwarfs Cyborg.

Hey Marshal, do you know if she just had a kid?
I hope this doesn't sound crass, but I'd swear that's post-pregnancy bloat if I ever saw it. Although, I have never seen it on such an already large framed woman who is normally quite fit.
Did Verdum misunderstand or was he picking Cyborg to win?
Lastly, Matt Hughes again provides inexorable evidence of his unadulterated douchebaggery. I disagree with him, but even if I didn't, Kenny was asking about the likelihood of the fight, not Hughes' take on the appeal of female MMA. Ass!

she was supposed to face shana olsen at strikeforce dallas in august, but the bout's since been called off because of erin having some "weight issues."

Wow, she is giant. Hughes is also full of shiite. He's just a good ol' Illinois Christian who doesn't think women should be anywhere but the kitchen. How arrogant do you need to be to tell a person on a televised show "I don't think you should be allowed to do that based on your gender..."? He's such a creepy dude.

I was hanging with her husband most of the time I was in Vegas, and I don't recall seeing any kids around, or any mention of a kid for that matter.

to be fair to matt, he never said that. moreover, he said that while he doesn't want to watch it, he said he's fine with other people finding enjoyment in it.

Whoa guys lets not knock Illinois. I grew up in St. Louis which is I know in Missouri at least partially but that is like less than an hour from where Matt Hughes grew up. Also my girl friend is from an Illinois county that is less then ten minutes from the HITT squad training center.

I don't think you meant to take a shot at Illinois either, MH just happens to live there. If you did though, I'm in Ohio and I don't care either way.

i agree with you there, he isn't talking badly about illinois. i would have had no problem with that--hell, i live there and it's hard not to talk bad about it sometimes. after all, we are probably the most corrupt state in the union (we're about to have our second governor in a row to get a jail sentence).
i also don't have a problem with discussing how religion influenced matt hughes' views. it more than likely did.
i have a problem with the manner how it was done--disparagingly and with gross generalizations. as a christian who lives in illinois i bristled. it'd be like me saying "so-and-so being a good ol' smug yuppie wannabe northsider." i'm sure bulleteater would bristle at that. i should have let it sail right over my head but i was cranky, what can you do.
now let's talk about erin toughill again.

@LSBJJ....nice hyperbole. I disagree with as many people as an average human will, but Matt Hughes happens to be a hick southern IL christian. That deeply christian people often use the bible to spout very racist or sexist opinions is very creepy to me. Also, if you think I'm in the minority when I say Hughes is smug and arrogant I think you should ask around. I like the hypocrisy of jumping on anything I say and going "bulleteater jumps on anything people say," especially when it's an established viewpoint.
@Enigma...you wouldn't have taken nearly as much flak as I do, I've become an effigy.
@Ransom...I'm not a fan of smug anybody, North or South side. Generalizations about arrogant professionals in the city are often very accurate, because they move there to embrace that lifestyle. I only bristle (I love that phrase, too) when I say things that most everybody knows about Hughes and catch excessive garbage over it.
Toughill is scary looking, though. She doesn't just look big she looks bloated. Cutting fifty pounds is like cutting half an average girls worth of weight, but I'd love to see her fight Cyborg. What happened to that previous champion girl?--name withheld for reasons of laziness.
