Fabio Novaes Bjj
The is my first post but i have been lurking around for a awhile. Well here is my situation, i am currently in the middle of wrestling season, but as soon as the season ends i want start start up bjj again. Before wrestling season i was attending the local mma gym, but had to stop because as soon as they moved me into the advanced classes they wanted to charge me 150 a month. My parents are defiantly not going to spend 150 a month so i decided to look elsewhere. The only school i could find is Fabio Novaes, i was wondering if anybody trains there or knows anything about his school , like the pricing.
Looks like a good BJJ school. Only thing that smells weird is the statement that he's a Black Belt in Muay Thai???
In the 12+ years I've studied MT, I've NEVER heard of being a Black Belt
I have trained with Fabio Novaes for the past two years. He is an excellent instructor, coach, friend, and human being. I am sure Fabio would ask you to simply show up and train to see if you like it. When I first called him to ask about his classes and teaching style his response was perfect " why waste time talking about how I teach? why not simply come down and attend for a week for free? If you like you stay, if you don't you go." " BJJis best explained, learned, and executed on the mat, I see you tommorow ok."
Sounds like a good place, and it sounds like you should be a bit cautious of that other school. Charging extra for a class that they decide when you go into, and charge you extra for it, (and maybe its just me taking what you said wrong) sounds a little fishy to me.
Like the person above said, just go try it. If you like it stay, and if not, off you go.
The Muay Thai thing did seem a bit fishy, they just kinda threw it in that discription randomly, and didn't make much of it. Just that he holds rank. Although, I have heard of some MT schools doing in-house ranking, could be something like that.
BTW welcome to Lockflow!! Just sent you a FR :)
Thanks for all the responses so far, but yes i did find it frustrating when my old gym started charging 150 a month instead of 100 which i was originally paying. I will defiantly i mean definitely  check out his school once the season is over. It actually works out well cause my old gym was more mma focused and i am really just interested in bjj.
Well good luck to you! Let us know what happens :)
I have been training with Fabio for two yrs now and he is an excellent instructor and human being. Its like a family here, you will feel welcome as soon as you walk in the doors. The Muay Thai thing, believe me, Fabio is not a bullshit kind of guy! If he says he's a black belt.....He's a black belt!

Looks like a great place for bjj. I would definately ( or defiantly :) ) check it out.
