I feel like I remember you saying that this one was pretty meaningful for you a while back, when it was just getting started. Care to give us some insight?

Yeah, the chain was there first... a beginner's mistake. I never origionally planned to get a sleeve.

Yeah it does hold special meaning actually. Contrary to what most people think about tribal, I actually have mine for a reason. I studied up on how "tribal" originated in warrior cultures and tribes (polynesians, samoans etc.) and how they earned their tatts.

Most warrior tribesmen have a certain task that must first be completed in order to earn their tribe's respective tattoo(s) i.e. combat, rituals etc. So I waited until after I returned from my first tour in Iraq before I began my sleeve. This sleeve doesnt just represent returning from war but my entire service and all obstacles pertaining- bootcamp the whole 9 yards. I successfully completed every task put in front of me while in the Marine Corps. and that is how I earned my tatt. Thanks for asking.

Man I couldnt even tell you. Unfortunately I took the long road for this one LOL. I worked as an apprentice in a shop for a few years while in the service and I drew the sleeve up myself (no lie). Well I let the shop owner take the first crack at it and he did a horrible job. The color was really spotty and the outline was scarred in a few places. Needless to say I have since found an outstanding artist that knows what the FRIGG he is doing and he hooked it up. To sum it up, I probably have way more sessions than needed...

Anyone in the Pikeville KY area or VA and Tenn. for that matter check out SMALL TOWN TATTOOS' own Chris Walker who employs a host of other outstanding ink slingers. Chris is responsible for the tribal sleeve on Dustin Hazelett's left leg by the way. Pictures are on his myspace. Dustin has sported the Small Town logo on his entrance shirt in the octagon.

At first I started to get the gray shading, something like Roger Huerta has but Chris opted for the red so I agreed and Im glad I did.

Next I will be getting either my right arm finished or my left leg started. :D
