Every time anyone says "free your mind" I can't not think of En Vogue:
In related news, I am old.
Frank talking about "knowing what works for you" is a little odd. Cuz all he talks about is fighting Brock and that doesn't seem to work real well for him!

Great stuff. Really good point about holding yourself down and the point BJJ vs MMA tactics. I've been trying to avoid closed guard and other restricting techniques so this helps.

It seems to make sense if you understand the fundamentals. I think one of the problems is that people don't understand the fundamentals so they just do things randomly. Not him obviously.

you know I was really excited about this series when I first saw this post and was really looking forward to seeing some of Frank Mir's big guy jits techs. But after spending 9 mins watching videos only to have him show me how to get my arms in in half guard, I'm a bit disappointed. He is so long winded! That is a move that you should be able to show in 3mins at the max! I hope it gets better!

Never argue with an idiot, cause he'll bring you down to his level and beat you with experience
I actually like that about him. He's not just saying "I go like this, then like that", he's saying "I need to get his center of balance outside of his knee." Not the how, but the why.
"I might not just come at him with an arm bar or a kimura. I may come at him with a rear naked clam jam, chuckle berry handshake, or a triple decker pecker wrecker. He's not gonna have an answer for a triple decker pecker wrecker, I guarantee it."
TWB:
I understand your point but here is the thing. Having been in the video business for a while, you can't please all the people all the time. Some people could care less about the philosophy of a move or the technical aspects of them. They just want to SEE the move and that's it.
Many of our videos tend to show a bit more than just 'the move' in order for people to get an idea of who the person is teaching it. For example, there was so many preconceived notions of Mir before we started putting up these videos because all people see is the "infront of the camera UFC" persona. Its nice to see that the man has a good head on his shoulders will some sound technical advice.
Don't get me wrong, I really do understand your point of view. I remember reading a comment on you tube once where a guy said "listen , I don't pay my teacher to talk. I pay him to show me moves. Period."
I personally believe that when a person with more experience is talking, you listen. You never know what gems they might enlighten you on. Martial arts training is as much physical is it is mental. Combat philosophy is part of the training (in MY opinion).
Sure some guys ramble. Some do not. I would say that 90% of the people watching the videos have liked the insight.
Too that end, we could always stop putting this stuff up and remove it all.
Dunno.

Keep em coming Ari!
Ari, I didn't mean to come across as unappreciative for the videos that you post on lockflow. Long before you started posting them here, I came to your website to learn new moves, many of which are favorites of my game now. What I was trying to say, and it may have came across the wrong way, was that when I first read the post I thought that it was going to be something different than what it has turned out to be. That is of course no fault of you or Frank Mir. I made an assumption and it was wrong. I thought it would be more move oriented and less centered around different philosophies of fighting. I am a huge fan of Frank Mir and am sure that Frank spent the amount of time on the move that he thought was appropriate, I just thought he got a little long winded on this particular instance thats all. With that being said, I will continue to watch the series in hopes of growing as a martial artist. I will also continue to come to lockflow and Submissions 101 for the latest and greatest in fighting. Sorry for the misplaced negativity, I will try to remember that when someone know more then me, I should just listen. Maybe Ill learn something.

Love the triangle escape counter.

I went to the gym and sat down to play with the technique in the last video. All I can say is how can this not have already been in my game? It not only works for a failed triangle, but also against the double under pass. Great stuff and so simple.

Up in base demonstration in video part 7 was awesome. Best demonstration of self defense I've seen in a long time.
Hey Lockflowians:
I know I said there were 10 parts to this series but actually, there will be 14
. Here is part 10. After this, Frank shows some wicket quarter guard and deep half sweeps.
