from Middle Easy:
"A few days ago, I heard from a very reliable source that the Federal Trade Commission is in the process of investigating UFC for past trade practices. The FTC is not just investigating the recent acquisition of Strikeforce by ZUFFA, but past business deals with Affliction, WEC, RVCA, TapouT and Pride. I'm told that ZUFFA is aware of this and have a few attorneys dealing with it. The FTC has started or plans to interview a few people/businesses in the MMA industry to determine whether tortious interference was at play. It's a non-public investigation, so if you contact the Federal Trade Commission they will not deny/confirm if this investigation is going on."

I can't say i would be too surprised if this turns out to be true.

We cannot become what we need to be by remaining what we are.
My avatar is representative of my absolute resolve to acquire victory in the cage, the same as Gollum's unyielding pursuit of the One ring.

Like any big business Dana will just throw a bunch of money at the Federal Trade Commission and they will quietly go away.

This is par for the course with big businesses. Sometimes it can be as marginal as a slap on the wrist for marginally poor business practices and at worse the beginning of serious investigation.

I remember back in the day Activision was investigated for shipping inventory to various retail warehouses in order to inflate annual reports for "units shipped". They would buy back the units plus fees (which is why the retailers would even go along with it) after the annual reports were posted and if you did due diligence in your research on the company you could discover this. It was actually an industry practice at the time.

Though it wasn't illegal it was ethically dishonest and the FTC has since banned such a practice.

Just an example of the sort of weird logistic details that these investigations can cover.

I was browsing other webpages when I stumbled here. Approximately 7 months had passed since this news broke out. How was the investigation? It does not matter if the proceeding was equated to personal loan as long as the truth comes out. Are there latest updates?

"businesses in the MMA industry to determine whether tortious interference was at play" what exactly does this mean (tortious interference)
