Hand injury

I've got this odd pain in my hand (odd for me, I'm hoping it's a common thing)

It's on the little finger side just above the wrist.

I can seem to grip fine still, but once my little finger gets twisted slightly, I get this pain towards the back side of my hand.

I'm thinking based on my google and wiki searches that it's hopefully just some kind of sprain on the muscle there.

Tried to see a doctor yesterday but the wait time was too long and I had to get back to the office. I assumed the doc would probably just say 'rest' and send me on my way.

So, am I just forced to take time off and rest? Any methods to help speed up the process? Should I ice it every now and then? (its not swollen by any means).

might be a good time to work on strength and conditioning and let your hand rest for a bit...
