 KMTV News Omaha:

Police ticketed popular MMA fighter Houston Alexander for child abuse after the 39-year-old became upset with his 16-year-old and made him box with him.

Police reports say officers were called to a home near 44th and Maple for a domestic disturbance. The older Alexander told them he was having trouble with his teen son, who was "having explicit sexual contact on Facebook with some unknown females." The 16-year-old reportedly lied and "made him very upset."

According to police reports, "Alexander then retrieved boxing gloves and told his son, 'If you are going to lie to me, then we are going to box.'" The two reportedly boxed in the basement. Officers describe the teen as having a "slight bloody nose and pain to his right side."

Alexander was cited for misdemeanor child abuse.

Call me sick, but I think this was a good thing for him to do.

Been beaten and scarred, you'll never break me. I'm born again hard.

I think back 20 + years ago this was called good parenting.  I remember throwing a fit one time when the neighborhood kids were playing baseball, my dad was the pitcher and he beaned me for throwing a fit.   I was like 11.

Only in this genreation would a dad be looked down opon for correcting his son. Kid is lucky that a bloody nose is all he got!

Parents are getting so beta/weak that they won't even spank their kids. At least make them do some kind of intense physical activity until they are worn beyound belief kind of the way a footbal coach would punish his players.

This is rediculous. They used gloves and obviously the dad wasn't going to kill his son. I don't believe is hitting unless it's something similar to this. My dad spanked me only a couple of times because that's all it took for me to listen after that. It isn't about fearing the parent. It's about respecting them. I still respect my dad to this day even if I'm in better physical shape. It's like those kids who swing / hit their parents. That digusts me.

I never grew up with anything more than a spanking with a wooden stick or soap in the mouth lol, but at 16, I'd say there's not much wrong with this unless houston was going crazy on him.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."

Did the cops even take into account that he's a PRO FIGHTER and could've hurt his son but just let him walk away with a bloody nose and a "hurt side"? And was his son the one who called the cops?

HA obviously used restraint, but what was this supposed to teach his son. If you lie you're going to get knocked around a bit. Thats the reason not to lie, because you don't want your dad to hurt you?

With sparring, training is one thing, there is a willingness for both people to spar. But when it is used as punishment, it is one sided and the son is powerless.

Sounds like a good enough reason not to lie LOL! Obviously a stern "dont lie to me" didnt work.

I grew up with a miner's belt around my A$$ if I didnt listen and I got the point really quick. Just another example of people sticking their noses where it has no business.

I dont see the problem here. You have Houston who is a pro fighter and obviously used restraint and didnt hurt the kid.

Man, If I coulda got away with just a bloody nose back in the day, I woulda been cool! Lol, the first time I tried to drop the B***ch bomb on my mom, she backhanded me before I could even finish it and I rolled back like Heath Herring. This was promptly followed by me running and her chasing me like Lesnar. I absolutely did not call the cops either, because I knew if I tried that, I would need an ambulance to come first! There is a time and a place to spank a child, and not everything warrants physical correction... That being said, some things do, and people need to suck it up and deal with it!

people might think i'm crazy for saying this but I think he had good intentions he doesn't want to become a grandfather and @16 I'm pretty sure his son thinks hes a grown up so he showed him that he was still a child.Pretty sure he didn't want to hurt him just teach him his place.

i know you didnt see that one coming but it wouldnt have mattered cause your chin was high and your hands down away!

The truth is thats how we grew up and many people on this site. Infact I remember my teacher giving me a beating... anyway. This is probably why the most of us are drawn to fighting and training. I guess guilty by law bceause the action were comitted but innocent by nature =(

thats how i grew up, thats how my boy will grow up. i doubt houston was even hitting him with much, if he was the boy would have had more than a busted lip. that dude is huge.

Don't see anything wrong with this, and pretty much agree with all above. My dad, and even a priest at my church once, gave me some slaps across the face when I did wrong. Who called in the "disturbance"? It's obvious he could have killed his son with little trouble, boxing can be a little noisy...
