I messed my ankle up pretty bad, so I had Top 10 Professional fighter, Lockflow capt, and strength & conditioning coach Sally "Slick" Krumdiack tape my ankle and I recorded it so you all could see.....

You beat many of us to that comment Im sure

Thanks for the video.
How would you tape an ankle for competition? I assume this tape job isnt for competition purposes, or is it? I hyperextended my instep during a fight one time from a poorly timed thai kick and it sucked. My opponent jumped out of the way and only my toes made contact. I imagine that had my foot been properly taped the damage wouldnt have been as severe.

That's a standard tape job for the ankle, it keeps the ankle from rolling again (flexion? its been a while since my sports medicine days). That's the purpose of the stirrups and the heal lock, keeping the joint stable while still allowing mobility. You should still be able to walk and run and move on it fine.

On a side note, notice when Sally mentioned the angle she's going at to prevent wrinkles, this is very important because wrinkles can cause serious blisters. Thanks for the post its good to get a quick refresher on an important skill like that.

11th dan in Parnes Jiu-Jitsu, it's one more than Ransom's. Real PJJ goes to 11!

I can grapple and move pretty normal with this tape job. We used the same wrap for one of my fighters (Buck Bisby) before one of his fights, and he did just fine - and won!

Nice taping! Sally is quick!

Hey, can we move this into Techniques?

I know it's not a grappling technique heh, but maybe an instructional section? It'd be cool to get different people's hand-wrapping techniques as well.

I don't have to win every time, it doesn't bother me in the slightest to get tapped. So I'm able to learn the ins and outs without my ego getting in the way. - Eu
