who I am: Sergio da Silva

Where I'm From: San Jose, CA- Livin' in Pasco, WA

What I'm About: Respect, Honesty, and creating the next champion

How I Heard About Lockflow: Through Charles "The Punisher" Pearson and Adrian "THE" Wise

Traning Experience: I began training in martial arts at the age of 12 (now 34) in Yoshinkan Aikido. Found that this didn't prepare me for the streets of San Jose, California. As time went on I bounced around from system to system, Screeching Eagle Kempo, Tae Kwondo, Boxing, etc.
Then in '95, my childhood friend Adrian Wise, introduced me to the world of JKD an Muay Thai. Worked with him for about 6 months or so until he moved to Washington.
From '96-'01 I kept up my training through a few different places. Spent sometime with the Gracies in Mountain View CA. A class or two with Matt Furey's Combat Wrestling. Then I jumped from class to class with American Kickboxing Academy's Mike Swain (Judo), Javier Mendez(Muay Thai), Stacey Dupree (BJJ) and Frank Shamrock (Universal Submission).
Began teaching R.E.A.C.T. (Realistic Effective Aggressive Combat Training) in '99. Opened R.E.A.C.T. MMA Academy in 2001. Then ended up in Washington at La Mecque Dojo as gym manager and MMA-Submission coach.

Who I am: Calvin Yeong

Where I'm from: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

What I'm about: MMA and powerlifting. Other than that, I'm a teacher and I try to pass on as much inspiration as I can to my students, so that they too can find their calling/niche in life.

How I heard about Lockflow: From MMA.tv. Charles announced this site there and requested that we drop by and post something here.

Training experience: Roughly 5 years in Hung Gar and Choy Li Fut kung fu under Eddie Tsang (of the Edmonton Chinese Martial Arts Club). I also acquired 4 years of JKD (PFS branch) from Greg LeBoeuf. My MMA experience came when I trained at a two day seminar with Matt Thornton (hosted by Calen Paine of "Real Self Defense Centre" -- located in my hometown). For about two years, my training partner and I trained in our backyard/basement/the university combatives room. Earlier in 2005, my training partner and I attended a total of 3 MMA workshops hosted by Arashi-Do (in Edmonton) and the Canadian Combat Club (from Edson). I'm still training independently with my training partner to this day, pulling from every source I can get my hands on (DVD's, books, training websites, seminars, and the odd open mat session).

Who Am I: Peter Taylor

Where Am I From: Canada originally, now Redmond Washington

What I Am About: I've always been a fan of the fighting sports. As far as training goes, I'm of advanced age and I originally got into boxing and kickboxing to a) stay in shape and b) do some cross-training for ice hockey. Once I started kickboxing, I was hooked - I like it better than hockey now.

How I heard about Lockflow: From the axfighting.com site.

My training experience: I started training at Ring Sports United in 2003 when it was at the old location on Bellevue Way and I've been going there ~4 times a week since. I've learned TONS from Kim and Mark Messer as well as guys like Leornard Carter, Freddie Medellin and Shandy Frye. I had been entertaining the notion of having at least one amateur kickboxing bout but don't know if my 'real life' (ie. work) will afford me the time I'd need to train seriously. It still remains to be seen. My wife has been taking Vale Tudo with Scott Norton for a while and she's convinced me to quit talking about it and finally get my ass in there, so probably next week will be my first week in Vale Tudo class.
