Kos vs Pierce questions
Thought the fight was a close match, personally thought Pierce won but I don't think it was a bad decision, the fight was close.
Here's my 2 questions -
1 - On the undercard Herb Dean took 2 points away from Alex for his 2nd low blow after 1 'strong' warning. In this fight he warned Kos in the 2nd round about keeping his fingers in. He then followed Kos to the corner and warned him a 2nd time, stating that he'd been doing it all night long. In the 3rd there was a pretty bad eye poke and Herb does nothing? Thought that was a little odd.
2 - I don't know how the judges see everything. In the 3rd round Kos nails a double leg takedown and Joe R basically says that probably won him the fight. I would say that the spinning elbow Pierce threw did more damage than any double leg. We here it all the time but I always find it odd that after a 15 minute fight they think it was won on a takedown with about 10 seconds of control. If the guy getting taken down gets right back up I don't think it should could on the scorecards. But over and over again it does.
My $.02

Completly agree. I thought Pierce won that fight. Takedowns that don't do damage, or land you in a position to do damage should be scored so highly. And then we look at the Diaz Condit fight, I had Diaz winning the 1st and 2nd, 3rd was close probably swaying towards Condit, Condit took the 4th, then the 5th was close with Diaz getting a takedown, securing the back, threatening a choke, going for an armbar and he drops a 49-46 decision! Not even close to consistent judging.
11th dan in Parnes Jiu-Jitsu, it's one more than Ransom's. Real PJJ goes to 11!
