looking for input for strange situation

I have recently been spending time with an awesome girl for whom I have quite a crush. The time we share is always really rewarding.

Last night after a great evening, she and I fell asleep on a bed in the living room next to a window.

At 3 in the morning I awoke out of the blue. My eye caught movement at the window, just as a face rose to peek inside the room.

We made direct eye contact. He even spoke to me briefly before bolting. "hey, whats up *run*"

I carried my lady friend into her bedroom, and stayed awake and alert with the dogs ready to defend the house and the people inside.

Close to 5 in the morning she and I both awoke to a banging on the outside wall. She knew what was going on. An ex-boyfriend with a history of harassment. Twice we called the police and each time he hid only to return and continue banging.

Close to 7 She, the dog, and I left to my place for a safe spot to rest into the late morning.

What would you do!? Of course I was entirely ready to pin this guy or choke him out. I volunteered to go outside and catch him, but respected my friend who didn't want that escalation.

Instead I stayed silent and indoors, ready to defend the home and residents from intrusion.
