Lute Livre Team Dominates Jiu Jitsu Tournament

" The long sought after GI vs NO GI question was answered at a Jiu Jitsu tournament in Brazil.

On Sept 18 2011 Marico Chrome was invited to bring his Luta Livre No GI Team RFT to compete in the State Championship of No Gi Jiu-Jitsu Federation of Sport Jiu-Jitsu of Rio de Janeiro.

Marcio’s NO GI Luta Livre Team RFT did not disappoint. He entered 30 athletes and ALL of them made the podium with 13 of them receiving the gold medal.

The Team as a whole earned 97 points which made them the champions and was 30 points ahead of second place Gordo's Jiu Jitsu, a traditional GI Jiu Jitsu team.

Chrome said, This helps to grow the sport of Luta Livre NO GI submission wrestling, it shows that our art can go hand in hand with Jiu Jitsu, in a highly professional manner, without a fight.

He also believes that this title will show that RFT athletes are always encouraged to end the fight before the judges decision and will become increasingly valued by national and international events.

He also hopes that the academy will have more respect and is placed on top, along with other more renowned academies.

What this shows is that Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and Submission is the quest for completion, and adds to the mentality that the boys at RFT enter the cage to finish and not score, he said. "
