The gr8 ancestor of Muay Thai...
Has anyone see it in real life or competition??? (besides watching it in "Ong Bak")
Know where we can learn it??
Has it gone extinct n the school just teach Muay Thai techniques under Muay Boran name??
-->flying head trap with knees followed by a downward elbow...NICE!!!

Muay Katchosan (based on elephant movements) is also cool...bone breaking...joint dislocation..CRACK!!!

The strong man is not the one who wrestles, but controls himself in a fit of rage.

Nah never heard of it before. Sounds worth doing a little research about though. Thanks.

I dont believe Muay Boran is taught any more. I do know that hundreds of years ago roalty in Thailand used to practice it. I think once it became the countrys sport it became generalized. By all means if I am wrong correct me. I will look thru some info I have on it and repost later. I love Muay Thai so Im sure I have the info somewhere on Muay Boran.

Muay Boran is usually taught privately but I know of a decent group in the UK that does it.
If you really want to learn Muay Boran find a Krabri Krabrong instructor, a good chance they also know Boran.
As a side note, at least half of the gyms I know that say they're Muay Thai are really just a modified form of kickboxing but may have fighters that fight in modified or full muay thai rules. I'm not taking anything away from the effectiveness of some kickboxing gyms.
I'm suggesting learning Muay Thai before learning Muay Boran/chaya/letwei/etc.

Keep training and enjoy what you do.
