my cousin(female) got jumped........hospitalized

my cousin was jumped sunday night and beaten severely to the point she was hospitalized. as far as i know she is still there and receiving treatment for major damage to her eye. she may need to be transported to a larger duke medical center for further treatment. she may have a detached retina, concussion, and/or internal organ damage. she is an absolutely gorgeous young lady with a great personality. she makes friends very easily so this is pretty shocking.

here's the story i was told as to what went down.

about a week she had an altercation with that lead to her punching the girl in the face. i dont know the rest of that story. this weekend, sunday as i was told, she goes to a party with her "friends." of course, they were doing what kids do, underage drinking maybe "X" or weed. this is an assumption on my part but we all know thats what goes on. apparently the attacked happen around midnight because that was last time anyone saw her. she didnt get to the ER until around 330 monday morning. she doesnt remember what happened and like i said has major eye damage and significant bruising to her entire body. luckily no broken bones. the hood of her car has several large dents on it as if someone hit it with a bat. no one that was present is talking and we may never know the truth. she is in bad shape.

needless to say my uncle is livid and is a pretty aggressive dude. here is my question.

what should he do next? can he press charges or something like that. he has names of most of the people present and certainly they know what went on. i know kids fight and people get hurt but this is pretty serious and uncalled for IMO.
