New bjj school in monroe, wa

the other day i noticed a school behind the local blockbuster video in town.
didnt say much other then comming soon.

any monroe guys know who is teaching??

Also there is now a new Gi BJJ class at Arlington Kickboxing :D for anyone living in the Arlington area they also just started a Judo class as well.

Now I get to wear my gi to a class and not just around the house :D O I'm so excited, now I just have to figure out how to tie that dang belt on and manage to keep the gi pains tied :roll: :oops:

Soon as I get back to Fort lewis WA im joining somewhere i know that for a fact most likely i will check out ATT in olympia.

i know you didnt see that one coming but it wouldnt have mattered cause your chin was high and your hands down away!

Also curious about BJJ in Monroe, as a friend ( Steve Cabana - 4 stripe purple under Marcelo Alonso) was talking about opening a place back up there...

hadn't heard about that yet, but I'll check into it... behind Blockbuster, must be next to the cigar shop and Lover's Package (two other good reasons to swing by there)...

I know Cabana has a place open up there, has for a while...I just don't know where. (We worked at the prison together and rolled a bit.) Here's some trivia for you folks that know Steve, did you know that he fought Lockflow.com member Landon "The Show" Showalter in MMA many years ago? Good stuff.

Hahaha! Wear your gi around the house! LOL!

How to tie it on depends on how long the belt is, and how many loops are in the front of your gi pants. I never have a problem with my knots coming loose.

I just bought some lockflow gi pants and I can't figure out how to keep them on. Can we maybe get an instructional, CombatChaz?

From the website (WWW.ITATiger.com: "Monroe TaeKwonDo Academy & Jiu-Jitsu is an ITA-licensed member school and is therefore authorized to teach ITA curriculum, to apply ITA standards in assisting students to earn ITA certification of rank and Instructor status, and to register students to attend ITA tournaments and camps. ITA-licensed member schools are not franchised schools but rather independently owned schools adhering to ITA policies".

Poster on the door says Tiger-Rock TKD and BJJ. Phone numbers are disconnected. Contact email is . I don't know if he's the owner, or what. They apparently have some adult classes, but it looks like they cater to kids.

Hard to tell, but it looks like one of those strip mall TKD places (and not what I think we were looking for, but who knows)... have to wait and see...

That's all I got for now...

haha Cabana brings back memories, I used to go to school with him back in GRCC and we would "train" together in the yard of his apartment in Auburn at the time. I met him at Marcelo's in Tacoma(at the time), small world.

Keep training and enjoy what you do.

Hi Guys, I am the head instructor of the Monroe Taekwondo Plus Jiu-jitsu Academy.

I moved from Louisiana and opened a school here in Monroe with my Business partner Erik Wray who owns the Mill Creek Taekwondo Plus Jiu-jitsu and Mukilteo 5th Element MMA school in Golds Gym. As far as Jiu-jitsu credentials go you can check all that out at www.tkdplusbjj.com . My entire family teaches martial arts in Louisiana www.molleystkd.com .I have been doing BJJ for 10+ years. I have studied under multiple instructors and move around which has made it difficult to rank up very high in BJJ; not that I particularly think its important, but most people do.

STEVE CABANA IS TEACHING BJJ IN MONROE! Steve teaches at C.T.E.T. Monroe's MMA on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He trains gym members in both gi and no gi. Looks like a few of you on here know Steve, he is getting his Black Belt Next Week out at Marelo Alonso's facility and has worked very hard for many years to get it. CONGRATS TO STEVE! We are lucky to have him running our grappling program at the gym.

Joe is no longer teaching at Arlington Kickboxing Academy he left of a job months back but Matt Coble is now the BJJ instructor and Is a purple under Joe and a professional fighter.
