NFL Lockout

This is driving me crazy! I hope with all that money all over the place they come to some kind of resolution and play this season.

Here are some CRAZY numbers from the NFL -

The NFL makes about 9 billion last year.

With all the different %'s the owners make for various reasons the 32 owners end up with about $2.5B of that. Or $81 million a year (last year). Note: this is not a salary, the owners are investors in the league and in their team, this is their investment. This is average, some owners also have a piece of the stadium or concession stand proceeds etc etc.

The average player makes $770k per year. .0095% of an owner. Even the average QB is around $2m or 6% of what an owner makes. There are 53 players on a roster so the entire team makes $42m, about 1/2 what the owner makes.

So just like in the UFC and in our general economy the billion $ question is....How much should an employee get vs what an owner should get. In the case of the NFL there is a butt load of money that I can't even comprehend.

On the owners side of the argument - They are the investors, without them there would be no NFL. They invest in things like NFL Europe which failed miserably AND NFL Network which gets more popular every year. More risk = more reward. The players will get their salary no matter what succeeds or fails. The players also choose this profession, they don't have to play ball.

On the players side - They are the ones the people pay to see, they are the ones who literally risk their lives and families well being to potential life altering injury. (I don't know if the average joe on the street knows how much pain athletes go through in a contact sport.) If all the players quit there would be no NFL as well. The NFL also owns the players names, someone like Peyton Manning gets exactly zero $$ for all the jersey's the NFL sells with his name.

I think they should cut everything in 1/2, still make a ton of money and lower the damn ticket prices!!!!
