Police tactics/martial arts/self defense
I had a hard time making a title for this thread but I had this because there is a man on youtube who goes by the name of Chosonninja and I think it would be very valuable for everyone here to check out some of his videos. He is a very intelligent and proffesional police officer and I hope you value his videos like I do.
Excerpt from his profile:
"This is devoted to the people who can not afford Self Defense or have no schools to learn about Protecting Arts. I don't want you to buy anything from me, but rather watch learning and teaching these entertainment videos to good and poor people all throughout the World. If you wish to also get involved, I have a home study course if you really want to become an Instructor and help your community as well.
Tradition is good, but do not allow it to blind you of what is out there for you to discover...Korea had Kanja first and you should research this..truth hurts only those in denial.

Hate to always be the downer, but most criminals won't break into a wide karate stance in an altercation.

These techniques don't seem too realistic. The first one just in his motion he looses a lot of power by taking his hips out of position, as well as the attacker isn't just going to be standing there waiting on you to throw that little combo. I'm also not a big proponent in striking with the fist without gloves on because of the easily damaged hand. Pressure points may work but it is very hard to hit them on a resisting opponent. Trying to hit a target that small on a moving, resisting and attacking opponent just doesn't seem realistic or achievable.

funny, we were just talking about pressure points and how to find them in my DTS class. But yeah, I agree with MrBungles on this one, he pretty much nailed it on the head.

If some one attacks you can suck up a broken hand. Punch them in the mouth, poke them in the eyes, kick them in the balls whatever works. I love BBJ but if you are in a life or death situation you should use anything you can to win.
yes you can suck up and deal with the pain of a broken hand, however you can no longer use it dexterously nor could you clench it tight enough to do any damage with it. Eye gouging and groin kicking could work but most guys who grow up with brothers learn how to constantly be blocking that area. Also I have found I can push through that pain if it does happen. Eye gouging is similar to pressure points it could work but its such a small target what are the chances of it landing. I don't trust any technique that I can't drill over and over against a fully resisting opponent, and I don't know of anyone willing to let me roshambo them or throw the snake eyes at their face.

Im quite fond of Bas Rutten's self defense stuff and Krav Maga type tactics.

I've watched some of this guys vids. They're not too bad. Some of his seize and control stuff is pretty good actually.
I always say you can't learn martial arts stuff from the internet until you have developed a good skill set and eye for movement and such. internets is bad for beginners, but it's an okay resource for practiced individuals.
