Rampage to Rogan: 'Shut the f--- up'

In a recent interview with Fighter's Only magazine Quinton "Rampage"Jackson, no stranger to frankly speaking his mind, turned his ire on an unlikely target - UFC commentator Joe Rogan. The remarks were apparently sparked by Rogan's commentary during the Jon Jones fight, when Rogan lamented Rampage's lack of kicks in his unssucessful title challenge.
"If you win then Joe Rogan's got to do an interview with you," said Jackson. "And most likely he has been talking some crap about you and how you don't throw leg kicks. 'I don't know why he don't throw leg kicks' - because Joe, I am fighting a wrestler who wants to take me down really bad, that's why I'm not throwing leg kicks.
" 'He's so one-dimensional, he's so one-dimensional' - he's going on about jiu-jitsu the whole time. That's why I'm like, 'Oh here comes Joe Rogan' and he's all fake in his face like he's not just picked apart your whole game like he's the best fighter in the world and he knows every decision you're gonna make while he is just sitting there watching you."
In reply to a question in jest about how a hypothetical fight with Rogan would go, Rampage replied at length.
I would beat the s--- out of Joe Rogan - as long as he don't get me to the ground, because his jiu-jitsu is really good. I know he's got good jiu-jitsu because he's so biased towards jiu-jitsu guys. Every time a guy is a jiu-jitsu fighter Rogan might as well be playing the rusty trombone.
"Joe Rogan has one of those girly high-ass voices that you can hear. I just want to tell him to shut the f--- up. Let's see you do it. Let's see you come in here and kick this mother-f----- who wants to take you down. Shut the f--- up.
"People can call me one-dimensional all they want. I don't care - at the end of the day it's my fight. I trained for this fight. People forget, I did Muay Thai fights, K-1, jiu-jitsu tournaments and I wrestled. One dimensional? Okay. Kiss my ass. I like to put on exciting fights."
Rogan offered a brief reply on the UG:

I think he'd beat the shit out of me too.
joerogan: For the record I love @Rampage4real, regardless of what he said. He's a sensitive guy with the toughest job in the world.
I see where he's coming from for sure, but yeah everybody knows who would win between him and Joe Rogan, it would prove nothing if he actually beat his ass. I HAVE been wanting to see Joe show off the skills I have always heard he's had for awhile though, but it definately doesn't have to be against a guy like Rampage
Joe Rogan gets paid by the ufc to talk about fights. If he didnt mention the fact that Rampage hasnt thrown a kick since 1992 he wouldnt be doing his job. Rampage is just suffering from the same thing we all suffer from when someone points out that we arent doing all we can....the truth hurts!
This is stupid. Rogan is supposed to keep talking and analyzing the fight. Imagine if every football player got all butt sore after the pregame shows outlines every bad read.
I get what he means. Since I do jiu jitsu, there's tons of time I want Joe to stfu.
But he needs to be talking/explaining the jiu jitsu stuff for all the meatheads who watch and don't have any clue.
Or else we'll go back to the days where everyone automatically boo's when its on the ground, not realizing they are actually doing somthing.
Still a hilarious read. I'll always be a Rampage fan.
To be fair to Mr. Rogan: there are a lot of bros watching the UFC that wouldn't know an arm-lock from a haymaker. Joe Rogan is in the position where he kind of has to explain what's going on.
To be fair to Rampage: I pretty much always want Mr. Rogan to STFU when he starts commenting on the action because I generally don't feel he's adding useful information. I think a lot of fighters could provide better commentary, Rampage included.
It's kind of a lose-lose. You need someone like Joe Rogan because a lot of UFC fans are guys who aren't fighters and don't know even the basics of what's going on so you need someone to hold their hand. At the same time, as someone who does know a neck-crank from the hole in their ass you want commentary that is more useful than Rampage isn't throwing leg kicks. I guess I'd be happier if Joe wasn't so biased towards BJJ and offered more depth in his commentary.
^^That's another thing, is why is Joe Rogan there? I would prefer Bas or Frank Trigg, and I would even prefer Borat over Mike Goldberg.
I actually like Joe as a commentator. He's a beast in Bjj and Tkd and I'm sure he's dabbled in the other arts. I would love to see the UFC add Bas as a 3rd commentator (only because I would feel bad for Goldberg getting kicked out lol).
Joe's twitter response: For the record I love @Rampage4real, regardless of what he said. He's a sensitive guy with the toughest job in the world.

(woops, quote from his podcast earlier this week)
"Rampage Jackson's mad at me. I was watching and he was calling me fake ass. He was saying that all I want him to do his throw low kicks and the reason he doesn't throw low kicks is because he was fighting a wrestler 'you dumbass.' Look, man, I love Rampage. I don't mean to be rude when I assess things. I'm just trying to objectively figure out how this guy could be doing better than he's doing. ... When I'm doing commentary on a fight, all I'm trying to do is sort of objectively assess what I think someone could be doing differently to try to get themselves out of spot if they're not winning or... I'm just trying to commentate. I'm not like critiquing the guy's soul. I'm not like breaking down who he is as a person. I like the guy a lot. ... The last thing I want to do is add more pressure or add more stress. All I'm doing is trying to just... I'm analyzing the fight, that's all it is. I have to be objective. I can't protect someone's feelings at the expense of doing what I'm supposed to be doing, which is sort of analyzing what's going on."
I like Rogan's commentary and miss it a lot when he is not commentating on a ufc event. One man's opinion that's all.

I agree with Rampage, I hate Joe Rogan. He is veru biased. It's his job to comment of what's actually happening not put his own spin on things, if you were listening on a radio or you were blind you'd have to believe the junk that comes out of his mouth. Sometimes I feel like we are watching 2 different fights. My dad can't stand him and won't order PPV b/c of him. I think he and Goldberg should be replaced by former fighters like Couture, Rutten, & Florian when he retires.

FREESTYLE AMERICAN SHOOT TEAM Thanks to eagles for the sig!

Lame. Why do some of these fighters pull the "I can kick your ass" card on non-fighters. That's like Joe saying he would school Rampage in commentating. At least his job description requires him to talk.
