RIOHEROES is BACK!!!
For the Vale Tudo purists (like myself)....RioHeroes is back!!! Started in the streets of Brasil and following only "gentleman's rules"....Rioheroes has been the subject of much controversy in Brasil and abroad. Run by BJJ blackbelt Jorge Periera, it was started on mats in his back yard, progressed to being held in gyms, and eventually was held at undisclosed locations in a makeshift cage. The fights were streamed Live online. They were busted in a rural shed in Brasil and their website was taken down early this year. RH has encouraged illegal betting in Brasil, which has made the authorities take action.Well, theyre Back and holding fights again.....im not sure of the legal details, but now they have sponsors and everything. the rules are the same, there are no rules.
Why does Jorge Periera do this?!? on interviews he's stated, because MMA is not true Vale Tudo. True Vale Tudo has no rules, or rounds. Vale Tudo is about one man against another. RH is now sponsored by Brawl and Maul who also sponsor fighters from my gym in Miami. (freestyle fighting academy).
Good luck Jorge and Welcome back RH!!!!!

That RNC pic is awesome.
I was thinking the same thing, the body triangle is a nice touch.
As for vale tudo/rio heroes goes, people who don't want to fight in it don't have to and people who don't want to watch it don't have to.
It's when people that takes a fanboy offense to it and lobbies against it that it bothers me (because it often involves politicians looking to score quick votes to get involved which then leads to stupid laws to control vale tudo fans and athletes freedoms).
Hockey is a popular Canadian style of street fighting.

Exactly, you cant be offended if you dont watch.
Vale Tudo has birthed some of the greatest MMA stars ever- Chuck Liddell and Wandy to name a few.
I love the refereeing attire by the way, thats HARDCORE SHIZZLE right there LOL. Even the peacemaker stands combat ready LOL. RIO HEROES ROCKS!!!
