STABILITY BALL TRAINING FOR BJJ
Who here does it? How has it helped your traiing. I want to try it, but I am not understanding the purpose.
Can a 10 pound medicine ball be used for similar drills?
I do ALOT of this type of training. The ball works core and balance from a multitude of angles as well as pressure control such as Lancaster153 said.
In my ball routine do side control, knee on belly, mount, and open guard. I work alot of transitions on the ball where i simulate being in a roll and changin from position to position or position to sub, i try to stay completely on the ball or in the air and not ever touch ground unless i have to. you can also train making transitions while maintaining pressure and balance OR even momentum. Ive been doin this training for 1.5 years now and it has helped me tremedously. the ball helps train your sense of feel as it relates to pressure. I train like this 5 days a week so that it feels as natural as the ground. Its the closest thing to live movement with a drilling/rolling partner. It's not a miracle worker either, I still tap plenty-but it improves my game tremendously.
I've got the glover stability ball stuff, but does anyone feel like sharing their ball routine like Insane?
Check this out.. I work on all this stuff and it has greatly improved my balance and where I place my weight.
Hi, guys, I am a super noob when it comes to BJJ, but this stabilty training seems an excellent way to solo drill.
I cant wait to give it a try
looks like cirque du soleil to me
adding this to my routine
good stuff - keep them coming!

I just started to do it mainly at my gym in the wee hours of the am when I know in advance I can't make class that evening. I like to use it to improve on "connective pressure", it helps to use all the contours of your body to keep contact/pressure on your opponent. Good practice to keep your hips low and then pop up for knee on belly. On a side note it is kind of funny to see the perplexed faces on the roid heads as they watch you "hump the bouncey ball thingy"
