Sweeps for the short man.

I am 5'6 I have short stocky arms and legs and find it quite difficult to sweep longer opponents. My go to move is shrimping into a single leg and eventually standing up or driving for a takedown, but after a while they catch on and it no longer works.
I was just curious to see if anyone had any advice on sweeps I could use effectively on longer opponents. Thanks.

PS. No-gi sweeps please.

This vid is 90 mins long, it shows an awesome halfguard game including

sweeps. I started with the trad full closed guard game and had some

success with it but once I got my half guard game flowing I started kickin

some but, BTW I am also short, see also Eddie Bravo's rubber guard

material, the rubber guard stuff is advanced but the half guard game is

tight and a great place to start.

Apologies for how this looks but with a link on the page it allows writing

Trying to sweep a skilled opponent, thats 6'2 is like trying to sweep Dr. Octopuss when youre 5'6 LOL.
My wrestling and normal go to sweeps usually work but Im just trying to keep evolving as much as I can in preparation for those "problem opponents".
Im built like your average wrestler/powerlifter so the rubberguard is out of the question for me but thanks anyway LOL.

well, since ur 5'6" and probably a pretty strong person from what u described. this vid might b useful.

just make sure u have the leg that ur hooking wit ur arm tight. if they can stretch out their leg, then u will b in trouble cuz then they can use it as base to pass ur half guard. so pull it in tight, make sure itz bent and just keep rocking them back and forth til u break their base and sweep them. good luck wit this.
