Tennis Elbow! sigh

So last week I started noticing my left arm was getting weaker. Took a few days off and went back and it was a bit better. The following day (Tuesday) I went to roll and first roll as soon as I gripped with my left hand my opponent was able to break my grip easy and get on top.

Soon as I tried to push with my left arm I hand next to no strength. I decided to coach some newer students the rest of the class and help em out instead of rolling.

Next day my elbow is throbbing in pain. I can usually handle pain, but this is different.

Went to physio Thurs am and confirmed tennis elbow.

Usually I'm more upset about missing training rather than the injury itself, but this time I'm having a hard time even working because of it. And all I do is sit in my office.

Went to the doc and got some naproxen perscription to pick up shortly. Hoping it will help me out so I can actually get some work done and maybe have a decent sleep.

Was suppose to compete at our local tournament Oct 1st, and was hoping to go to the world nogi in long beach in Nov, but I don't think I'll make either.

Plus we do annual promotions in Nov, so I wanted to be at my peak running up to that.

Anyone ever had this themselves?

doc says all I can do is rest it. I got a couple more physio scheduled for next week in hopes to speed up the process though.

NSAIDS and ice. Also rest, but some activity seemed to help me, especially as you want to avoid mental blockades due to staying away from the pain...My doctor injected cortisone in my elbow when I first had a tennis elbow and it cured it instantly. The second time my doc wasn't in town so I just rested and popped 1200mg Ibuprofen a day.

try using mineral ice or tiger balm as well. i've had a little relief with one of the support bands they sell at any pharmacy or wal mart too.

if you cant beat them, arrange to have them beaten.

I've played tennis for a very long time competitively and leisurely so I've had problems with my right elbow. Rest, ice, and icy-hot is what gets me through it along with some anti-inflammatory if I have them. A flex brace helps in the beginning but if you wear it too much I feel like everything just stiffens up, like xPinkx said make sure you try to use it a little so that doesn't happen. Get well soon brotha!

Try a dit da jow from here everything they have is good. What you want to do is take squares of paper towel on top of the area and put dit da jow on paper towel until it's soaked and sticking. Then relax and keep it moist and message if you want. But try not to keep using ice because it will trap the injury deep in the bone/tissue. You should feel better in a week.

The naproxen should do the trick. A couple of my friends have had it and the NSAIDs(not sure which one) they were prescribed help them pretty quickly. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
