The focus of this Fight Sciece was the power of a Capoeira kick but TKD came out on top as being the fastest and most powerful kick they recorded among the people tested. There are many variables that need to be taken into consideration like the weights of the people kicking and the skill level of the individuals representing each style as well as the type of kicks they are doing but ...

Honestly, I think the majority of it is the theory of power heh.

Get the speed of TKD, the power of MT... that'll work.
Interesting vid though Smile

I think you hit the nail on the head Dave and I would have to disagree that style vs style discussions are 'silly'. It's more about the theory behind the mechanics of the kick than it is one 'style' versus the other. But like I said at the top the weight of each person has to be taken into consideration because F=1/2m x V2 ( Force = 1/2 mass x velocity squared ). The experience level of each person and more people need to be tested in order to get an average... then we can get a better idea.

Otherwise, it's like Reilly said... 'that dude kicks harder than that other dude.' Wink
