ewwwwwwwww
patience My friend Machida its a virtue.
so disappointed
They kept showing it and showing it and showing it...aaaieee! I doubt it was a simple dislocation - I believe Frank Mir just retired Big Nog.
Hope nogs arm is ok that was a damn good fight. Mir likes to squeak out close ones.
I'm glad to see someone actually hurt Jon Jones...Machida's straight left made him stumble wonder what the H-bomb will do...
good night of fights Most of my guys lost but it mma anything can happen
I've gotta rewatch that Ebersole-Patrick fight because I had Ebersole losing the whole thing. Great night though. Haven't had one like that for a while.
I agree, I did not have Ebersole taking that at all.
Mir has got to be the most upsetting fighter for me.
It's sad but I think thats the last we'll be seeing of Big Nog, that will take years to heal and even then it won't be the same.
Years?
Judobrian: Any thoughts on what may have happened to Big Nogs shoulder in that sub? I was watching the fight with a PT and Orthopedic PA and there was a lot of speculation. I thought break of the humorous, but after seeing the replay 15 times the consensus was posterior shoulder dislocation, but there is a real chance that he suffered MAJOR damage to the rotator cuff and labrum. I hope that we where wrong!
Great night of fights but some brutal finishes: Tito's rib issue, Big Nog's arm, a 7 second KO, 35 second KO, and a title fight were the challenger was choked out on his feet and dropped like a soc of potatoes.

@myke It looked like the same kind of break as this guy, he had to take about two years off after that. the shoulder moves in so many ways when the joint is destroyed like that I really don't think it will be the same as it was ever again. I would say at least a year but who knows it looked nasty and competing at the highest level you would want to make sure you can get a full range of motion but the way Nog is he will try to get back in it asap whether he's ok or not.
We had a debate about that a while ago, and if you look at footage of a bunch of breaks from kimuras it seems like the damage actually occurs at the elbow or forearm. I'm not sure if the radius and ulna actually break or if the elbow just dislocates, but if it's just radius/ulna damage he may be able to fight again someday.

it's the humerus that was broken. i'm sure the shoulder was dislocated and soft tissue torn, as well.
on another note, does anyone else have any issue with jones dropping lyoto like a sack of potatoes?
^^I kind of thought it was disrespectful, I had a bigger issue with how he pretends to be humble and all about honor when he really strikes me as being completely cocky and arrogant, did you notice Greg Jackson had to TELL him to go check on Lyoto afterwards? And if he knew he was out why did he crank on him even more? His talent is undeniable but I do not like him as a fighter.
Because he broke his arm (based on the x-ray that seems pretty apparent) that COULD be a blessing. The bone giving out could have protected the soft tissue of the shoulder from tearing. I guess we'll know more soon.
I am a fan of Jon Jones, but I didn't like the way he dropped and walked away from Machida...he did seem to come of cocky last night. That being said "seeming cocky" without atually saying or doing anything cocky is about 1/100th as annoying as the cocky things that Tito, Ken Shamrock, Chael, Bisbing...etc, etc....have said 1000 times in their carreers. I think he may have just been doing his Anderson Silva inpersonation.
Did anyone else notice how much of that win was directly because of Greg Jackson/Phil Nurse/ Mike WinkelJohn? It's a little frustrating that people don't give credit where its due. Based on their skill sets alone, JJ couldn't even touch Machida. After the breakdown and instruction by his coaches, JJ takes it. Without that he had nothing, knew nothing. Now he may have been able to take him down later anyway and beat him, but the fact is that Lyoto was untouchable without the advice of the coaches. MMA is a team sport. Most of the action rests on one mans shoulders, but where would these fighters be without Greg Jackson and his team?

anyone else hear that Machida is rumored to be sick?
