UFC removes Hardy's tattoo...

UFC 111's Dan Hardy says "visual stimulus" to blame for poster's tattoo removal
Take a look at a recent UFC 111 event poster. See anything missing?
Dan Hardy (23-6-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC), one half of the pay-per-view event's main draw, is missing the tattoos sprawled across his stomach. His trademark red Mohawk is gone. By contrast, his opponent, welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, retains a lone Chinese character tattoo on his chest.
Did "The Outlaw" get censored?
"I don't know," Hardy told MMAjunkie Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) today. "I'm not sure, to be honest."
Hardy, who's tapering down his UFC 111 fight camp in New Jersey, was told the removal was out of concern for the poster's aesthetic.
"It was something to do with too much visual stimulus on the poster because obviously, the tattoo's quite prominent and it kind of draws the eye away from the important information about the fight, the show," said Hardy, who meets UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. "That was the information that I got."
The British welterweight has taken the division by storm since his October 2008 debut at UFC 89 with four straight octagon victories, which include a decision win over Mike Swick in his most recent performance at UFC 105 this past November.
He's not upset over the apparent airbrush job. He's got the title shot, and that's what counts.
"It doesn't really matter to me," Hardy said. "Obviously, it would have been nice to have the tattoo on there, but at the end of the day, you can see my face, and that's the important thing."
"If they'd airbrushed my face off, I'd be a bit more concerned."

LOL! Now he's concerned.

LOL that is too funny...

I could never make out what his tattoo said any way.
Been beaten and scarred, you'll never break me. I'm born again hard.
On the one hand as a graphic designer I totally understand their reasoning behind removing that tattoo (that its too drawing to the eye etc) However, thats just not cool its no different that photoshopping 2 inches off some chicks thighs or changing some celebrities skin tone in adds. You just shouldnt alter someone's true appearance. Dan Hardy has those tattoos now, its who he is, you shouldn't be able to discard that at a whim. Like how THQ told Clay Guida to cut his hair if he wanted in the UFC video game just because they couldn't program long hair.....not cool.....

I agree totally Impact.. I was hoping the fight game, being as real as it is, wouldn't resort to shit like this.. But hey, I guess it is what it is.

LAME! How A.D.D. does someone have to be in order for them NOT to get the info on a UFC poster b/c of a tattoo anyway?

hahaha agreed! that is messed up though taking away someones 'artwork' after they put their time, heart, and money into it just to get a non-distracting poster = super d**k move.
Blood is just red sweat.

I notice nobody is too concerned about his Mohawk lmao
On Clay Guida,
Couldn't they have just had him put his hair up in a topknot like Evan Tanner did on occasion? Seems to me like they didn't really care about getting him in there one way or another.

Yeah I was actually gonna mention on the mohawk. Cause about 7-8 months out of the year I have either a blonde or a bright red mohawk. Not cause it's cool or that it's the fight look-thing to do, but because it reflects my style and my personality. Therefore I think and feel that it was kind of shows a lack of respect to edit Hardy's hair/personality like that.
But I feel he has the right attitude about it. He's got the chance for the belt. The fight is what's important. Not the looks
Here's his tattoo. His has a lotus flower underneath it on his tum-tumaroo, though.

It's a Buddhist prayer, the most popular one. No meaning yet encompasses all of the knowledge of the religion...etc. Eastern philosophy.
