what is this symbol?
What is this symbol. you can see it on the authentic samurai armour's helmet. and its on the helmet of the guy on the far right in the last samurai pic. and genki sudo is infront of it. Is it a samurai symbol. where does it come from. what does it mean?

and i quote from the "tattoo encyclopedia" by terisa green
Triskelion- "the triskelion [greek for three-legged] or triskele is an old symbol dating to at least the bronze age and known from a shield design in athens as well as the walls of irish megaliths. In a strickt sense it is composed of three legs bent at the knee in a sprial formation usually within a circle and is associated with rotation. it easily transforms however to a more abstract designs of three sprialing elements such as the 'counter clockwise triple sprial'. as with other triple symbols it has been absorbed into christian iconography as a trinity symbol. " Thats all i got like most things with three it could have to do like the book said with christ i.e. the father, son, and holy spirit.... anyone else??
"Napoleon your just jealous because you know im training to be a cage fighter"
also, from what ive noticed a lot of the japanese symbolism has to do with luck... those are what my tattoo's mean.

Keep in mind that similar symbols seem to appear in multiple cultures near the same time, but their meanings may be drastically different, so don't necessarily trust the Greek or Irish interpretation of a symbol that appears in China. Example: We now see the swastika is an inherently evil symbol, yet the same symbol is on ancient Greek ruins and Buddhist temples in China.
I'm wondering how it relates to the samurai. I first saw it on that genki sudo picture and have since noticed it on the last samurai and clothing on samurai in the 7 Samurai. Also on authentic samurai armour as well.
From the locations on the armor, it’s mon or kamon. An identifying symbol (mon) or family heraldry (kamon). They were commonly worn on the Kabuto (helmet), or at the sleeves, lapels and nape of neck on the kimono or do (curiass).
The design is “tomoe” or a flame- or comma-like symbol. It means turning or circular, referring to the motion of the earth. This specific symbol is “mitsu tomoe” or “triple tomoe” and is very common. A mitsu tomoe reflects the threefold division of Shinto cosmology, and is said to represent the earth, the heavens, and humankind. It is often associated with the Shinto war deity Hachiman.
The god Hachiman was widely worshiped in feudal Japan, as he was seen as the guardian of the Japanese people. The Minamoto clan took Hachiman as their protector deity, and their leader Minamoto no Yoshiie, became an icon as the ideal samurai. It became a common crest for samurai and samurai clans.
I think the war reference is what you’re looking for.
