My intention is not to start another inflammatory post, but you guys have to see this site.
It is a religious site that apparently cites the Bible's efficacy by disproving critics scientifically.
I just thought it was an interesting take. I have only read the introduction.
I will have to report further, but I am going to TRY and keep the convo on the site specifically and not just a battle.
your treading on dangerous waters here..wait for the heating argument to come your way..personally, I looked at the site and some of the articles and I call BS. As a theology major, I don't understand anyone who believes that one religion, one nation, one culture has the monopoly on the truth. And we as humans must be very arrogant to believe that we are the center of the universe and nothing exists outside of our world. Points to ponder...if God is all knowing, all seeing and all powerful and he made everything from nothing...how was he created?...the answer; our minds.
In before flame war
This is a HUGE topic for me in my life at this moment. I finally realized some things. God in no way would ever want us to 'seperate' ourselves from each other. This is why organized religion seems like such a contradiction to the word of Christ. Christ was trying to show us that we are all one and that we are of him. Do you really believe Jesus would deny anyone access to Heaven? People think Heaven is this magical place you go to when you die. The Kingdom of Heaven is WITHIN you!!! You are more than you believe. Christ doesn't want us to be SHEEP. We can all be masters and that's not what the church wants you to believe. They want you to believe you NEED them. Don't lie to yourselves anymore. And most of all, stop thinking you are going to a higher place in heaven because you go to church or do what you call great deeds. We are ALL of Christ. -my opinion
man that site looks like a bunch of BS. Most of the stuff it says seems really sketchy and barely credible. I shake my head.
I think Bible thumping fundamentalists piss me off more than arrogant athiests.
good response myke7777; I completely agree with you. BTY, that's what made enemies for Jesus; he was going against the norm by proclaming that heaven or enlightment is within us, not a place to ascend to. Weird..just like most of the other Asian religions.
They called evolution a theory.
When are the American brainwashed religious going to understand that evolution is fact, natural selection is 'theory'. Also, when are they going to understand that a 'theory' in science is something that has withstood ALL kinds of criticism and has millions of hours of research behind it and literally tons of evidence behind it?
jesus loves you.
I just want to point out that his is the definition of theory
–noun, plural -ries. 1. a coherent group of general propositions used as principles of explanation for a class of phenomena: Einstein's theory of relativity.
2. a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact.
3. Mathematics. a body of principles, theorems, or the like, belonging to one subject: number theory.
4. the branch of a science or art that deals with its principles or methods, as distinguished from its practice: music theory.
5. a particular conception or view of something to be done or of the method of doing it; a system of rules or principles.
6. contemplation or speculation.
7. guess or conjecture.
I'm not a bible thumping fundamentalist or even a christian (well technically) but I would also like to point out that the reason that evolution is still a theory is because there have been no "transitional fossils" that show the slight changes needed to prove the theory. For instance how did we (humans) get from Cro Magnon, to Neandrathal, to walking upright and staying up all night watching porn and eating cheetos??? This is what is referred to when we talk about the "missing link"
I love these types of discussions but I don't know if its appropriate for this type of web site. If you would like to continue this discussion message me so we can keep this site clear of non related things like this. Thank you
I think most of the time...
people turn to 'God' when they're in s**t.
