Travis Tooke is one of only a handful of non-Brazilians to achieve the rank of Black Belt from Carlos Gracie Jr. and at only 23 years of age, became one of the youngest BJJ Black Belts in the United States. His name has appeared numerous times in Grappling Magazine and he is among the top Jiu-Jitsu competitors in the country.

Here Travis shows the Roll from the bottom Turtle position

  • Step 1
  • Steve is in the bottom turtle position
  • Step 2
  • While protecting his neck, he secures Travis’ right pant leg and controls around Travis’ right wrist.
  • Step 3
  • To move into position, he now stretches his left leg and places his right knee next to Travis’ right knee.
  • Step 4
  • Steve now rolls over his right shoulder forcing Travis to roll over with him
  • Step 5
  • After the roll, he is now on the top side.

This is a HIGH percentage sweep! It always works for me (anytime i am in bottom turle with the guy on the side)! Nice post.

This seems like a great move from my least favorite position or gaurd or what ever you call it.

it is called the shrug in our wrestling style. there is a way to get there from many positions.
