Sambo: Back Arch counter to Hip Toss

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)

the key to this is lowering your level into their space. sitting under them rather then away from them and pushing their knees forward with your knees.

  • hiptoss
  • your opponent enters for a hip toss with an over the belt grip or head and arm.
  • bend your knees
  • as they try to bend their knees, bend your knees and sit on the ground. push your knees forward into theirs.
  • arch
  • arch your back high toward the shoulder that is nearest your opponents head.
if you go toward the other shoulder you will bring him over your face.
  • heist
  • heist your hips and take the top or back.

I like that you are wearing Nogi shorts while showing Gi moves.

Been beaten and scarred, you'll never break me. I'm born again hard.

Belly2Back Suplex eh? Nice! I'm not allowed to do those. They knock the hell out of your training partners. Or the guy your fighting, but thats a good thing. Smile

Great technique. I can't wait to try this out. You do a great job of explaining everything.

Just curious, would this

Just curious, would this counter also work when your opponent sets up the drop seoi-nage (sp?) throw? I know he has more control of the arm/sleeve in this throw and it may be tougher to clasp my hands together. I've been tossed in comps with it and need a counter to it or be quicker to react and try to back mount.
I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
