Sambo Throw: The Vertuchka
![]() |
This is a classic Sambo Throw. In this video you can see it demonstrated and also it being used in competition. The key to this throw is commitment and very tight grips.

the pin
start with one hand gripped firmly on the your opponents sleeve.
take your other hand and hook it deep under the arm you are gripping. rotate your body perpendicular to your opponents.
grip tightly and make sure you are holding the arm across your chest and not across your neck. lean backward like a suplex. it is very important to keep eye contact for as long as possible to make sure they do not take control of your back during the throw.
lean so far back that you almost hit the floor. keep a very tight grip and begin to rotate away from your opponent.
right before you hit the ground rotate your body hard so that your back does not hit the floor. turn your chest toward the mat and keep their arm with you.
they will trip over your extended body and as long as you have a tight grip and you get your own chest to the floor before your back hits then the throw will be successful.
once they hit the mat you need to put all your weight on your shoulder, pinning their shoulder to the ground. when you get a chance pull your arm free and take a more dominant position.

very cool, thanks!!!
NICE THROW! As shown this is basically a "sag".
The way I was taught was a spinning arm throw. Rather than leaning back like a sag, you sprial once you have the arm.
Nevertheless, good throw!
Great throw man!!!!!!!! You should really add more of the Sambo throws... I'd love to learn them man. Thanks for the technique!!!
Love it! Very practical in the set for Sambo and BJJ. Thanks Remix!

In Judo we call this "yoko wakari" or side seperation. It's one of my favourite throws!

the grip and fall is a bit different but it is very similar to yoko wakari.
yea..almost, but with ippon seionage grip.
The strong man is not the one who wrestles, but controls himself in a fit of rage.

I think this, along with podvaht were the first throws I learned.

This throw was recently use dby myself against my Greco-Roman wrestler buddy... he said he tried to counter my armdrag but it wasn't an arm drag lol... he asked where i got it... i said LOCKFLOW.
Cool... looks sort of like a flying mare, but not really...
Awesome throw, thanks!
You're not drunk if you can lie on the ground without holding on.
I just realized that this is a variation of the spinning arm throw. Judobear was right too, it's a yoko wakare in judo (I checked on judoinfo, lol).
Here you can see it done in wrestling:
Arm Spin Throw
This is a great throw, and the only one I really know how to use!
Thanks for posting it!

In Shooto, we call it a "hanging arm throw". We actually hang and do a back bridge until our head hits the ground and then spin. This is also the first throw I teach.
Seoi otoshi but without the wrecked knees. Thank you!
yoko wakari with ippon seoi nage grip! cool.
This is a variation of yoko wakare it is actually known (in judo) as Hiji Gaeshi if memory serves me correct
