Here is a counter to a triangle defense when your opponent postures up so you can't close the triangle.

  • Getting Started
  • Start with your opponent in guard.
  • Triangle
  • Use your favorite set-up to lock-in a triangle choke.
  • Postures Up
  • Your opponent postures up, blocking the choke and preventing you from breaking down his posture.
  • Cross Grab
  • Don't release the triangle. Cross grab your opponent's tricep.
  • Drop the leg
  • Drop the top leg and place it on your opponent's hip.
  • Center the arm
  • Shift your butt over your opponent's leg to center the his arm.
  • Swing the foot
  • Swing the foot on your opponent's hip over his head.
  • Armbar
  • And finish the armbar!
