2 leg locks from double leg control
in a forum topic this position came up.
these are a few options from it, but you can also go to ankle locks and toe holds like usual.
the main concern in counter attack is the outside lowside ankle lock. a toe hold would be hard to finish for the other person because they do not have control over your thigh. the reason they could ankle lock you, however, is because if they pin it to the ground it is just as tight as if it was in between their legs.
but, as always, be aware that if you stay still long enough you can be countered with anything.

you end up here
triangle your feet on one side. try and keep your free foot out from underneath your opponent's armpit.
roll over so that the foot on the side of your triangle is on the high side. and heel hook them.
bring out that foot from under your armpit
put it under the other foot
put the it under the armpit on the side of the top foot.
then go under the Achilles of the bottom foot.
gable grip with your laced hand on top and rotate toward yourself and pull to finish the ankle lace.

Leg Weave for the win!!!!
Love it, thanks!
That ankle lace is about the only finish I know from that position. Great stuff!

great stuff Reilly!
as per usual, quality instruction from mr. heel hook!
Reilly, you look like a circa 1970s football coach. Where is the "Finer points of ankle lock and heel hooks tutorial" that I have eagerly been awaiting?

I like, thanks Reilly! I love to use the lace for people who defend the single leg ankle attack by pushing their other foot in. Great stuff!
Cool techqniue.
Question: I've seen double ankle locks in some older judo and jujutsu texts to deal with this situation. Would you consider such a technique applicable, or is there some reason you might avoid them?
riss61, i do not know exactly what you mean. if you have a link to show me that would be great.
Reilly, I like this.. A LOT.. I consider myself a leg wrestler who's now learning the bjj thing.. I thought this was really creative. THANKS!
That Achilles lock using his own ankle is just sick!
As usual, thanks for yet another quality tutorial, Reilly!

reilly, i think i know what riss61 is talking about, and i would be interested in hearing your rationale. i've seen the same technique in old-school jit jitsu texts, and i've even tried using it in a shoot wrestling match, which didn't have good results. say you find yourself in the position in picture #1. you would then scissor your feet (they never mentioned a figure-four or triangle position) over their midsection and overhook each foot (like a double achilles lock, their left foot under your right arm, etc.), and then arch back to get the epic DOUBLE ACHILLES LOCK tap!
it never worked out that way. my theory is that there isn't enough pressure/control on either of their knees or hips to get the proper leverage for an achilles lock on either leg...
i see what your saying. the question is, why not just do one and commit both hands to one ankle. it seems it would be easier and a stronger technique.
great tutorial as always Reilly

Bro this is great tech. Just need to add my two cents because i tend to bait a lot of bjj guys with this well used to until they refuse to roll with me because being a leglock kinda guy. Any way with your stuf and Kris stuff the youngin's don't like to roll with this ol bull cause I try to be likegood ol Gene LeBelle I try to make it all hurt..lol
When you triangle your legs like in the top pic rab both ankles and push outward. Dosent take a whole lot to get the tap lots of pressure on the knees and hips. Learned that from Vince Fields a la Gene LeBelle. Try it you'll like it like Mikey =p

Awesome sauce Reilly!
I don't have to win every time, it doesn't bother me in the slightest to get tapped. So I'm able to learn the ins and outs without my ego getting in the way. - Eu
