Ankle Pick Escape
The 'ankle pick' mount escape is a nice little move. With practice, it is a very fast move that can take you to half guard pretty quickly. I myself have used this move in four or five pro fights and my students have also had success with it.
Eddie is caught in the mount position.
Eddie straightens out both legs.
Eddie turns to his left hip as he drops his left elbow inside Kale's right thigh.
Eddie pushes down on Kale's right thigh with his left elbow as he steps his right foot over his own left leg, trying to catch Kale's right ankle. Eddie's right heel touches his own left knee.
Eddie slides his right heel over his left thigh and under his left knee. Eddie keeps his knees tight to prevent Kale from freeing up his leg.
As Eddie squeezes his knees together he flattens his hips to the mat, forcing Kale's knee to pop up off the mat.
Eddie uses his left hand to push against Kale's right knee. At the same time, Eddie brings his left knee upward.
Eddie closes his legs and claims Half guard.
