"I remember Jean-Jacques Machado showing me this guard after he returned from competing at ADCC 2000. Since then, fighters like Dean Lister and George Sotiropoulos have successfully used it in MMA. It's an excellent guard to use in a fight because you really break down the top guy's posture and he cannot deliver any effective strikes. "
