Bottom Side Telephone Lock

OK, before you all yell at me, I know that I'm facing the wrong direction to defend side control, and I know the top guy has to be a bit slow, technique wise to get caught in this submission - that's why it's in the 'Bag of Tricks' catagory!

Step 1

I'm on my side, facing away from Seth (I know, generall the wrong way to face!) My right arm is around Seth's head (I know, armbar!)

Step 2

With my left hand I control Seth's right hand

Step 3

With my left thigh I push Seth elbow out as I push his wrist back with left hand

Step 4

I step my right leg over Seth wrist, trapping his hand behind my knee.

Step 5

I trangle my legs, lock my arms around Seth's head and pull his arm away and back from his head to finish the submission.

I could see getting this on someone! But yea if you plan to get this on someone very skilled. You had better be damn better than him cuz this is domination if you can manage to get this on someone good.

Hey... I had neverseen this done before until a member of La Mecque askedme... "can you do this?" and showed it to me. I told him sure if it works. Then not 20 minutes later he got it on one of our betterwrestlers aftershowing to me ON that wrestler. So we started calling it the "Garcia" after this guy.

If you use your knee to pop his elbow towards you then yeah it can work. try it when he is doing the knee sneek to mount. when he pushes on your leg grab the wrist andpush them between your legs roll to your side and guied the elboe to the groung and crank.

I've seen a video where Nino Schembri teaches this and several other moves from this position. It is the same submission you would do from scarf hold, which is basically what position this is-only inverted. That was great to see it pulled off in a competion! The other guy didn't look too pleased though.

That's my student Mark in the video above. He sets up and performs it a little differently from the pictures at the top. It is a pretty tight lock. We call it a "Femora" lol. There were quite a few high level black belts on the outside of the mat (running the expert heavy no gi on the same mat) and they were all blown away by Mark's submission. None of them had seen it before. Very cool for Mark.
