Catch Wrestling DWL takedown

The standing Double Wrist Lock is very common in Catch Wrestling , It's a very powrfull weapon to take your opponent down or even finish him standing. here is one that I use quite often.

  • 1
  • You start in a Head and Wrist tie up
  • 2
  • shoot your right leg back and do a snap down, or as in the pick, pull his head down and dig your chin in his right temple (this exposes his right arm)
  • 3
  • Slap on The DWL
  • 4
  • Bring your right foot behind his right leg
  • 5
  • go down to your knee, and twist your body inwards to your left pulling his arm in
  • 6
  • As soon as he hits the ground, post on your right shoulder
  • 7
  • shoot both feet up over him to the left
  • 8
  • when you land in your left side control keep good control of his arm and Crank the DWL
  • 9
  • make sure your right knee controls his arm 'cause if I can't get the Hook, at least, by keeping control of both if his arms, I might get a pin
  • 10
  • A lot of times, the opponent will try to grab hold of something in order to keep you from cranking the lock, one way to control this is to grab his outer ridgehand and twisting his wrist out as you do the lock
  • 11
  • But if you aint fast enough and he does grab something
  • 12
  • underhook his arm with your left hand and spin on your left knee to bring your shin directly over his face...no one said you had to be nice
  • 13
  • Go down on your right knee and swing your left leg over his right wrist
  • 14
  • grab hold of your ankle with your left hand, this makes for a very solid hold down
  • 15
  • bring your right leg forward
  • 16
  • Figure four your legs, clamp your hands together and pull up for one nasty squeeze lock

Between steps 13 & 13, I am sometimes losing the length of my opp.'s arm and his wrist slides out. What am I doing wrong?

I meant 12 &13

very cool, I'll give it a try tonight Laughing out loud

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying "I will try again tomorrow"

hey hcgc,
on step 12 and 13 notice how I underhook his arm, from there ,pull it down, this helps to turn him on his left side and makes it easier to swing the leg over. You could also use a reverse grip DWL just to keep it in place,'til your leg swings over

I like it. In step 8 it looks likeyou could trap his other arm with your legs and put him in thd position
