Catch Wrestling IDL part 2

Continuing with the Indian death lock series. This one I use when I go for kneebar and my opponent triangles his legs to counter.

  • 1
  • My oponent caught me in in half guard
  • 2
  • I roll back and go for a kneebar on his left leg
  • 3
  • he triangles his legs in an attempt to block the technique
  • 4
  • I overhook his ankle with my foot
  • 5
  • I swing my right arm back...
  • 6
  • and post my hand on the left side of his body and start turning into him
  • 7
  • It's important to keep a tight lock on his foot as you turn
  • 11
  • another view of the locked foot
  • 8
  • get up
  • 9
  • step back & press down on his knees for the tap
  • 10
  • or you could finish it on one knee pushing his foot in even deeper

money!

Are you friggin kidding me! That is a real peach... I mean I think I just peed in my pants a little.

What a beauty of a set up. I love it!

May I ask where you learned it, or if you put this together yourself?

This is one of my new favorites!

This little gem is mine. But i have noe real credit.Eddy Wiecz Carpentier, my catch wrestling coach, had me playing around with all kinds of different set ups for the IDL ,and one day during practice, while I was rolling, I went for the kneebar,he triangled his legs and there it was .

kris, thanks so much for the well-done tutorials that illustrate how effective some of the lesser-known catch wrestling holds (such as the idl) can be! it would be cool to show a couple of the counter options to the idl (such as using the upper body to attack the leg that's overhooking the instep), and then showing the counters to the counters (some of the nasty toe hold options that are available!)...chain wrestling=lock flow=awesome stuff! Smile

Cool. Easy setup!

I like that one!! I like to go for kneebars from half guard; so this is a good 'chain' attack for that. Just remember to overhook the "triangled" leg, then lean back forward.
