Catch Wrestling Single leg Counters
Keeping the pressure on is what Catch wrestling is about. So Instead of just defending the single, breaking the grip,
popping his head out etc,you can counterattack. From offensive, you just brought him into a defensive mindset.
here are Three of my favorite counters.

My partner goes for a high single
Whizzer His arm.If you yank him forward,he'll counterbalance by putting his weight on his heels
Use his backward momentum to skip your left foot back.Put your foot in line with his, this will nullify the takedown
scoop your left hand behind his knee
Keep a good grip on his knee and straighten your right leg - sit down.
as soon as you hit the ground, bring your hands together.By keeping a tight grip you can bring him back to his shoulders, gaining a fall.
If the pin doesn't work or the ruleset dont allow them, you can overstep his right leg with your left foot
and drop back into a kneebar
From the whizzer, instead of skipping back to scoop the knee, you can post your left hand on the ground
Shoot your left leg behind his legs
When you hit the ground,as you reach to scoop inside of his leg, start pulling him to his back with the whizzer
as he falls roll him towards his shoulders, the counter momentum he will use to come back to base...
will allow you to trap his leg for the kneebar
Kneebar
this time from the single, push his head down
as you push it down ,snake your left hand behind his right knee and hook behind his left leg with your right leg
Start rolling towards his right leg and grab it with you left hand behind his heel
Keep rolling towards your back.Keep his head in tight all through the sequence
once you have reached the ground and rolled to your back, make sure his head his locked in tight.if it should pop out switch to a cradle
overstep with your left leg (you don't have to,but I prefer having both legs over). Lock the pin or...
push your hips up for a neck crank.Don't push too high as his head could pop out,but like I mentioned before,if it does, just switch back to a cradle.

It's all a puzzle, isn't it, Joseph? Like a game of chess, perhaps. The pieces move, apparently aimlessly, but always towards one single objective: to kill the king. But who is the king in this game, Joseph? That is the question you must ask yourself.
thanks for the techniques! you look so different with your goatee shaven off.
天下無難事,只怕有心人
thanks, kris. it's funny, i've been playing around with the spladle recently, also. looking forward to your upcoming dvd's.

Thought option three was a banna split at first. Good stuff.
Hey... How did I miss this little set of beauties? This is great stuff. I just got to meet and work with Billy Robinson last night and my appreciation for catch wrestling has grown exponentially as a result.
Mr Robinson his the Man.
How did you meet him? are you doing the audit this weekend?

Nice! Looking forward to more Catch techniques. Thanks!!
cool! so this is catch...
Non magnitudo canis in pugna, sed pugnae in cane est.
Catch Wrestler,
Mr. Robinson is the man! What I loved most about spending some time with him was his passion for the art. After 60 + years in the game, his love for sharing and growing in the arts together is still untarnished. I felt ashamed because after a mere fraction of that time in the game, I know I've definitely become somewhat jaded as far as sharing, and helping others. His attitude was a welcomed inspiration not to let others diminish my love for training.
In answer to your question, Jake Shannon (founder of www.scientificwrestling.com) just moved to SLC and needed a location to do the audit. He approached my friend Brandon Kiser (CSW Utah State Rep) and asked if he could do the audit at our facility. We said that we'd be honored to have them. Any friend of the CSW family is a friend of ours.
We'll post some of Billy and Jake's stuff here on lockflow in the next few weeks. It was really fun to see the pure Catch Style. It was very, very eye opening and very interesting to say the least.
Sweet.
Yeah, jake had told me that he met some very nice people when he got to SLC.Looks like he was talking of you guys.Always nice to see more people showing interest for Authentic CACC.

Jake is a cool cat for sure! It was touching to see someone so dedicated to serving his instructor like that. It made me feel... not so alone. It's good to see that I'm not the only one that feels that way about the guardians of these arts.
CACC rules and it's definitely found a place in my heart. It was really cool to see the original art, it gave me a better understanding of how it influenced Shooto, and later CSW.
that single to kneebar is sexy i wanna start drilling that great move man thanks for postiong ..
Yes! this is a very good demo to counter a single leg takedown.
